Modern Garden Design by Amir Schlezinger

Land1.png

Well, Spring is almost here and I have to admit that I’m a little unprepared for all those landscaping projects I wanted to do. There are so many different ideas floating around in my head, I’m having a hard time narrowing it down! Each time I think I know what I want, I see something else that just blows my mind, like the work of Amir Schlezinger, a garden designer from the UK. His portfolio is full of inspiration for smaller spaces, many of which feature a captivating combination of textures and materials. I am especially fond of his use of low maintenance plants as well as dramatic lighting. Check out his website for more inspiration!

Capree, a photographer by training and a design blogger by passion, was born in Phoenix, Arizona and raised in Peoria, Arizona. She spent a great deal of her youth going to museums and reading through her father’s art and design books.

Can you do a segment on backyard landscaping where fences are not allowed? How can we make i private while still abiding by HOA standards of no fencing.

Crystal – I’ll do some digging and see what I can find! Just off the top of my head, I’d suggest creating a natural wall from plantings – bamboo or a hedgerow. A hedge can be created from a number of plants, growing up to six feet tall depending on what you plant. They can also be as formal or informal as you like. Here’s a little more info on garden hedges. Hopefully that helps a little – I’ll try to find some more sources of inspiration/information on this landscaping dilemma! :)

Creede, sorry to be so late commenting on all these older posts, but I haven’t checked in for awhile. For some more inspiration with a similar tone but a more practical scale for the DIYer check this out:

    Hi!

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to construct super clean, square modern garden beds/walls typical of modern garden design?

I assume a simple CMU block construction will do. But would it be equally OK to build a frame with 2×4′s and then plaster over a cement board facade for a smooth finish?

I have recycled planks available, which is why I thought of just adding a cement board facade. But if it’s better in the long run to construct with CMU, I’d better do that.

    Thanks in advance!
