Podcast: Sooner Legend Roy Williams

Roy Williams

Legendary Oklahoma Sooners safety and multiple Pro Bowler Roy Williams has spent the NFL’s lockout-marred offseason working with Pros for Africa (PFA), a non-profit relief organization he co-founded in 2009 along with OU greats Adrian Peterson, Tommie Harris and Mark Clayton. He also took time out to check in on the Sooners’ spring practices in his free time. Williams joins Homerism to discuss his work in Africa and offers his thoughts on what he observed during spring football.

Roy and I discuss:

  • his motivations in founding PFA and what kinds of projects the organization has taken on;
  • his most recent outreach trip, where he and the PFA co-founders were joined by other NFL stars, including Larry Fitzgerald, Vernon Davis and Santonio Holmes;
  • what it was like being a part of the start of the latest run of success at Oklahoma; and
  • his outlook for the Sooners in 2011.
