It’s July!

And I survived wedding season! When I say survived, what I really mean is there were no breakdowns, I didn’t get sick, and my husband still loves me! Yay!:)

While things will be a little less hectic, there’s still (always) a lot going on around here.

July is my birthday month! And I’m totally throwing myself a party this year because it’s my big 3-0! So, in the next few weeks I will be wrapping up a handful of weddings, planning and executing my 30th birthday party, enjoying a family camping trip (finally, it’s been over a year since I have gone camping – I think?!), and… dum dum dummm… launching my new website! I have been holding back posting here on the blog until the new website is up and running and we are just days away from the big launch. I’m so excited!

Thanks for not giving up on me! I have lots of plans for the coming months and I am really looking forward to diving back into writing… especially letters to my sweet girl. I’ve missed documenting her and she is getting so big so fast.

Speaking of my girl, she just woke up from her nap so I’m making this short!

Happy July…! One of my favorite months of the year! Be back so soon!

Graham & Emily | Ashland Engagement Photographer

Internet, meet Graham & Emily. Emily has been a dear friend of mine for years. We met in college our freshman year at Longwood University (did you know I went to Longwood? Oh yes. And a very influential year of my life, it was!) and have been friends since. When she got engaged this year I was SO excited for her! And of course, extremely honored when she asked me to be her photographer. It was awesome to finally meet Graham when we met up for their engagement session. They were adorably sweet together and made my job a cinch! I love engagement sessions so much because it helps show my clients that having your picture taken “isn’t so bad.” In fact, it’s kind of fun and relaxing. Plus, you get to spend the entire session cuddling and loving on each other! Score!:)

Here are a few of my favorites from their session:

Isn’t Emily as cute as a button?! And Graham, you’re not so bad yourself!:):)

I’m so excited about their wedding this fall!!

Featured Venue: Glencliff Manor

Let me start off by saying I LOVE every chance I have to photograph on the grounds of Glencliff Manor. I have mentioned many times how much I love this local venue (facebook, anyone?), but I can’t help it! The staff on site is top notch and their events run like well oiled machines. Teresa, the owner and wedding coordinator on site, is the friendliest, yet most professional venue coordinator I have met. Each of my brides who’ve had the experience of having their weddings at Glencliff rave about Teresa’s service. Sarah told me over and over that she felt as though she “was Teresa’s only bride – the service was so personal.” Olivia was so happy with her wedding day, she thanked Teresa and her team during her toast at the reception.

I just cannot say enough wonderful things about this wedding venue.

The property is stunning. You’d never know there’s a functioning farm on one end of the property with chickens, turkeys, horses, goats, and even an alpaca! Oh, and peacocks! Tons of animals! That’s what I love so much about it. The property is a home to many people and animals, so it is loved and cared for like a home. It has a secret-garden feel to it and I think that’s why I am in heaven every time I get to visit. You all can tell through my photographs how much I love to shoot with a background of greenery and plants and those options are endless at Glencliff.

All this to preface an announcement: Glencliff Manor is having an open house. I am honored to have been invited as a featured vendor during the open house and I am inviting YOU to come and enjoy the evening with me! Come out to the grounds, experience the secret-garden “getaway” feel for yourself. Meet their team of wedding professionals and sample their delicious food and cakes. The cost is free, so why not take an evening to enjoy the magic of Glencliff “Under the Stars?”:)

In all seriousness, friends, COME. Even if you are already married or not yet engaged – Glencliff puts on events of all kinds: anniversary parties, birthday parties, showers, etc. The whole night is a treat and you’ve got nothing to lose!

Expecting Joy | Lynchburg Maternity Photographer

While I am busy shooting engagement sessions and weddings right now, which I love, I got excited to change things up a little this past week and spend some time with my friend Joy capturing a big milestone in her life. I love to photograph couples – whether it’s a wedding day, an every-day, or a even a maternity session. This session was so much fun because they quickly adjusted to being in front of the camera and were able to just be real despite the fact that I was acting like a total paparazzi. We laughed so much during our time together!

Joy and her family are expecting their third precious baby girl to join them in just a few weeks and I am so very excited for her! I love Joy because she is so real – she is real about the challenges of being a mom, the challenges of pregnancy, but also the blessings she has in her life. She is just so genuine – about it all – and that is a refreshing quality to find these days. I enjoy every chance we have to talk about life, balancing being work-at-home-moms, and plans for our futures. (Psst, Joy is the awesomeness behind The Goose Beary Shop!) I can’t wait to meet her precious Tacy and watch as Joy makes the beautiful adjustment from work-at-home mom of two to work-at-home mom of three. I admire her so much!

Joy - Thank you for the kid words. I loved being able to capture these moments with you. Such a fun reminder down the road. :-)

Gratituesday: Lots of work!

What’s this? A Gratituesday post?

Small steps, people. Small steps.:)

This week… I am popping in to express my gratitude for WORK. I am so, so grateful to my clients who trust me with big, important memories, as well as the small, every day moments. I love, LOVE my job and even though I am in the crux of “The Season,” I am grateful for each and every chance I have to photograph people and deliver moments “captured in time.” I know it’s cliche, but how else can I say it??

This week I have a wedding, three sessions, a corporate event, and a photobooth all to shoot and process! Whew! I’m hoping to get a few more sessions up on the blog to share with you all soon as well.

<3 I hope you’re having a fantastic week!! Here’s a little glimpse into what I’m working on:
