Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the 2014 Oxford Film Festival in Oxford, Mississippi (USA).  The festival will be held on February 6-9, 2014, but there will also be volunteer opportunities in the weeks and months leading up to the festival itself.

There are four main areas that you can volunteer to help with: 1) Front of the House, 2) Media, 3) Screens, and 4) Socials.  We are asking that when you fill out your volunteer interest form that you choose one of these areas.  If you are interested in helping distribute posters and programs pre-fest along with volunteering for one of the other areas, please sign up for the other area and let us know via email or the comment box if you want to distribute them.

FRONT OF THE HOUSE: This area includes ticket sales, badge check-in, information table, OFF merchandise, and film-makers merchandise.

MEDIA: This area includes distribution of posters and tabloids, panel support, Q and A’s, mail outs, videography

SCREENS: This area includes anything to do with the screens itself such as usher and screen managers

SOCIALS: This area includes the Green Room and our evening parties: set up, execution, and cleanup

If you have any questions, please contact Kristin Rogers, Assistant Operations Director at volunteer[at]oxfordfilmfest.com:

Information Table

Volunteers will be needed to give information to Festival Attendees ranging from general information about Oxford, to the Festival itself and its program.

Merchandise

Volunteers will be selling both OFF merchandise and Film-Makers merchandise at 2 separate tables.  OFF merchandise will be sold via computer and will include cash, check, and credit card transactions while Film-Makers merchandise will be cash/check only.

VIP Tent

Volunteers will be responsible for monitoring the VIP Tent to make sure that only filmmakers, VIP guests, and OFF staff use the room.  Volunteers will also need to work with the Hospitality Director for any food/drink needs and keep up with trash as needed.  The volunteer in this area will sit in a chair outside the green room to check credentials (badges).

Ushers

Ushers will stand outside the doors to the theaters and hand out audience ballots, do head-counts, and answer any questions that attendees may have.

Screen Managers

Screen Managers are the direct communication from the theater to the booth upstairs.  Volunteers will be asked to sit in a specific place and keep in communication with the booth for any problems that may occur with the picture or sound.

Q and A

Working with the Q and A staff and the Volunteer Coordinator for screens, these volunteers will run the Filmmakers / actor Q and A’s after the showing of their movie.

Panel Support

Volunteers will support the panel coordinator in setting up for panels, including anything from setting up microphones to making photocopies.  This job may include some pre-festival duties as well.
