Being back at work is a bit of a shock after a fun three day weekend, luckily I have these pretty photos to look at.

Black and white trees

I can’t believe that I still have so many photos I haven’t shared here. These are some of my current favourites from last month. I often worry that I focus too much on one subject (I do like trees) but after a stint of not taking any photos at all, I’ve realised that I’d rather take the photos that I want rather than none at all.

We’ve got a week away coming up soon and I can’t wait to take my LC-A and some of this Kodak BW400CN film with me.
In fact I think a change of scenery for a little while and some time with my cameras is just what I need…

p.s. Thomas is unwillingly in one of these photos, can you spot him?

I’m definitely getting carried away taking pictures of trees I think, oops.

Embracing the quiet and beautiful part two

I’ve written before that I’ve always felt that in taking my photos that I’m searching for something… and I think that whatever part of me it is that drives me to take photos, probably knows what I actually need from my photos more than I do. Because once again, I spent a lot of my time on the beach last week embracing the quiet and beautiful scenes around me…

These were taken in both Cromer and Wells-Next-The-Sea and I love how peaceful both beaches look, especially in the black and white.

I’ve taken photos in Wells-Next-The-Sea so many times before, but its honestly one of those places that I will never get bored of, its just so quaint and so familiar to me now, that I enjoy taking it all in and capturing as much of it as I can on film.

This post could really be called F/1.4 love… because I am still so smitten with the photos taken with the Olympus OM-10 using the F/1.4 aperture. The depth of field and bokeh type effect is just so pretty… Of course now I just want to take more and more of them, so I really can’t wait for the days to start getting longer and it to be light when I leave work.

A Christmas walk on the beach…

During our week in Norfolk, we managed to get to the beach and it was perfect! I love the beach in any weather and I especially love it with good company.

Although there were a lot of people around, the beach still seems vast and relaxing. Sigh, I love the beach!

Forgotten Harry photos…

Before I kick off my Whitby photos (there are a lot, I love them so already) I knew that I had to share these photos of Harry first. I can’t believe that I completely forgot I had taken them but then these are from May…

I know this last one has everyones trainers in focus rather than Harry, but I still quite like it and his little annoyed face cracks me up. He really wanted to go for a walk and we were all sitting around having cups of tea haha. Also he gets fed up with me putting cameras in his face after a little bit so he does this. I love him.

p.s. If you haven’t seen Harry’s annoyed at me face before, there is another photo here that cracks me up just as much. Poor Harry…

Shades of turquoise…

Remember my confession of love for this Agfa film yesterday… well here are more reasons why I really love that turquoise shift and also, another confession of love for my Superheadz camera… I knew it could produce beautiful vignetting, but this film has taken that aspect and really made it special.Compared to yesterday’s photos, for some reason these doubles only seem to show hints of Davide‘s exposure and my photos of Wells and Harry (who I’m seeing Sunday, woo) are really prominent but I love the subtleness of layering this produces.

One of my favourite things about film is that there are so many options before you even take photos, its easy to stick with camera/film combinations but these photos remind me that I need to try as many different films as I can.

Have a great weekend!

We’re actually going home and to Wells again this weekend, so these photos are pretty fitting.

We love the beach video #2

It’s no secret here that Wells-Next-The-Sea is my favourite beach, I must have taken most of my cameras there at some point – and last weekend was the turn of my new little Lomokino. After last years little scare, I’m so so glad that it worked and I finally got some footage of Harry!

Family trips to the beach – even in the rain (which you can’t really see) are my favourite!!

Today marks the beginning of my Mum’s second birthday weekend celebration and I can’t wait to make more videos (and memories) of my family this weekend, hurray!!

p.s. you should watch until the end, just for Harry :)

My first Olympus Trip roll…

I got my Olympus Trip way back in the Summer and I even used it once when we went home to Norfolk for a little bit and I haven’t shared any of the photos on here, how crazy is that.
I seriously love this camera – it looks delightful for one and the results are so rich and warm, which I’m doubly impressed with considering that I used an expired film.

{Thomas took this one of me… I like it a lot.}

I can’t wait to go home to Norfolk at Christmas now, I really can’t.

Have a great weekend!

Actiontracker on the beach…

I always thought this camera would be better for more exciting and involved scenes but it actually captures the beauty and quietness of the beach in these photos really well… I feel more relaxed just looking at these.

My ‘Dear Photograph’ fail…

Seeing the ‘Dear Photograph‘ tumblr on so many blogs at the moment (even one of my best friends sent me the link) reminds me of my failed attempt at this kind of photograph with Thomas’s family beach hut last August.

It doesn’t look quite so impressive when

1. you’re facing the wrong direction
2. there’s a giant windbreak in the photo
3. you’re holding the photo at a wonky angle…

I gave up after two attempts! haha!

Perhaps I’ll try again soon…

p.s you see a better scan of the photo and more of the beach hut here. It’s a bit out of date though as its been raised and now has steps again.

Wells Next The Sea Fuji’s…

As well as playing with my new superheadz camera in Wells, I got my fuji instax mini back from my parents (they took photos in New York but I left them in Norfolk, oops) HURRAY! I missed my little camera!

Even though it wasn’t the sunniest day, I always think the fuji catches the mood of everything so well.

I’m not sure if the dot on the last one is a bird or dust from the scanner, haha, so I left it – just for fun.

Back in Leeds and missing the beach…

Good news! We’re back in Leeds and life is returning back to nomality!
We’re both back at work tomorrow, but right now we’re enjoying our last day of holiday and fondly remembering the beach :)

Thats me on the last photo!

I’m going to try and remember this info from now on when I post photos as someone always asks :) Remind me if I forget though…

A new superheadz camera!!

Happy holidays everyone!! How is it going for you all?
We have eaten so much and really enjoyed our break at home and even got some amazing presents!! Hurray!!
Remember this baby from my birthday list??
Thomas brought me one for christmas!!(eep, I love him!)

And here are some photos from our first roll of film around Wells beach.
CNV00007CNV00005CNV00017CNV00016CNV00010CNV00024Eeee, I love it already!
Hurray for new cameras, film, family, friends, christmas and the beach!!

Around Wells with a yashica camera…

I know I blog about Wells-Next-The-Sea and my yashica cameras alot, but I really do love them
(and I’m sure you do now too, haha!)
and together they create something quite lovely.

I seriously just want to take this camera out to play all the time now – I think it’s just become a contender to go to Poland with us…

A long weekend in Norfolk: Wells-Next-The-Sea Part 3

Some Holga photos from the lovely Wells-Next-The-Sea – Its officially my favourite beach!

I can not wait to take Helga to Wales!!!

Wish I may…

I love Susannah’s blog Ink on my Fingers and when I saw this beautiful wishlist I knew I had to make one too…

{Holga photo taken by Me at Wells beach}

Here are a few of my wishes on 09-09-09 -”a day for wishing.”

I wish for mine, my family and my Boyfriend’s happiness. I wish to travel the world. I wish to continously love. I wish to be unafraid of change. I wish to find the perfect job for me – even if it is not what I expect or think it will be. I wish to have a vintage camera and the mini diana camera. I wish I had more self control when it comes to chocolate. I wish that I will have a garden sooner rather than later. I wish for a home near the beach. I wish for macaroons in Paris. I wish for jeans that never rip at the thighs. I wish I was brave enough to commit to one thing that I love doing completely and go with it, where ever it may take me…

A long weekend in Norfolk: Wells-Next-The-Sea Part 2

I’m totally addicted to this setting on my phone – its just too much fun! Especially when beach huts are involved…

I really like the ones where they don’t quite line up properly!

A long weekend in Norfolk: Wells-Next-The-Sea

I was hoping to put some Holga photos on here today as I got them developed yesterday and they look so pretty but I don’t have access working scanner… so it will have to wait.

Instead I’ve been playing around with the photos off my (amazing camera) phone and Rollip - another website that creates fake polaroids. I love it!! I know I could just edit them in photoshop myself but where’s the fun in that?

There were so many ladybirds on the beach – at one point I had one on my hand and my leg. I had to rescue the one in the photo as it fell on its back. I wish I was back at the beach now and the weather was still as lovely.

p.s. I know I take lots of photos of the dog when I’m at home but he is so cute

and I might not see him now until December…

Wells-Next-The-Sea

One day I will retire to the seaside and if I’m lucky it will be to Wells.

We’ve been going to Wells ever since I can remember, however it was only when I got with my Boyfriend that it became somewhere that I started going regularly, as we always lived that little bit too far away.

My first memory of Wells is climbing up the huge slope (which isn’t there anymore) carrying my bucket and spade, trying as hard as my little legs could carry me to get up as fast as I could. That same day we took the little train, went on the roundabout on the park (not sure that is there either anymore…) and went into the awesome sweetshop opposite the amusements. I still love that sweetshop…

Never before have I seen seals on Wells beach though and I couldn’t believe it when we saw them there! I’ve seen seals before on the Norfolk coast, however they are normally further towards Blakeney. I counted 8 in total, but there could have been more. These two were enjoying a sunbathe though… and I don’t blame them!
