Catch up – #BEDM and 365/2013

Arghhh, it’s the end of May! That means it’s June tomorrow and a week from now, I’ll be on holiday. Excited is an understatement (it usually is for me anyway haha).

So first #BEDM. I kind of did a rubbish job with this. I started well… but my issue with this wasn’t anything to do with the topics or the blogging every day – it was the level of sharing. Every once and a while I forget that actually, I’m really happy with my blog and where it is – I’m really happy sharing photos, having conversations in the comments (I always try and comment back, so definitely leave comments), sharing snippets of my life and actually, I didn’t and still don’t want to talk about a lot of the topics. I am glad that I pushed myself to talk about everything that I wanted to though and I’m also glad that I realised that I do love my blog and being here still, so I am incredibly grateful to Elizabeth for giving me that through this challenge. It’s so easy to look at other types of blogs (lifestyle, fashion, mummy etc) and think that the grass is greener – but actually, I’ve spent 4 years carving out my own blog niche and I know now, that my niche is exactly where I should be… hurray!

365 101-124

Now, my 365 project… the good news is that I have still been doing this and I’m really enjoying it now that the weather is starting to slowly improve… the bad news is that I’m about 50 photos behind on here. Oops. So I’ll share a batch today and a batch tomorrow I think. So here is 101 – 124 with some highlighted moments :)

105 – A letter card from my Grandad :) yeay!
108 – a new camera (ohhhhh) I haven’t actually used it yet but I’m planning on taking it away with me.
110 – My first ever breakfast waffle and oh my… it was so good!
114 – Magnolias! Because you just have to
115 – Cake and tea on a special day with one of my very best friends. (You should check out her blog if you love cake, just saying…)
117 – I did take a photo but its of a secret project, so I can’t share it here yet…
119 – I got a new phone. The camera is sooo good!
123 – Our first BBQ of the year woo!
124 – A gloriously sunny day in Knaresborough.

365/2013 29-40

I can’t decide if I’m enjoying this project or not. On one hand its become much easier to take photos every day as it’s getting lighter in the evenings, and I’m a lot less picky about what to share… in fact, I’m surprised by how quickly its become a part of my day to take a photo for it. But honestly, I’m not a huge fan of my digital photos, they just don’t feel like they’re me, if that makes sense… perhaps I’m just missing my film cameras today.

365/2013 11-19

I’ve actually found this project to be quite hard… although I’ve been trying not to put too much pressure on myself to get a certain type of photo, picking just one photo for the day is actually quite difficult. I’m hoping that I’ll get the hang of exactly what it is I’m looking for as the year goes along.

I am a little bit amazed that its the 22nd of January already though – this month has flown by!

365 11-19

11. The 11th was a bit of a slow day but dinner was delicious – chilli stuffed aubergine with cheese and jalapeños.
12. Looking around Leeds Art Gallery with Thomas’s brother who came to visit.
13. As part of my word of the year ‘alleviate’ I’ve been slowly sorting through my things. Here I finally organised some of my books and cameras in our bedroom.
14. Snow! The start of lots of snow photos :)
15. Learning to crochet doilies. (I could quite easily make every day a crochet photo it seems)
16. I got two films developed from my parents house last week, they were both about 14 years old! So heres a photo of me with one of my high school projects. I was pretty pleased with that dog toy.
17. Waiting for the bus in light snow.
18. Curled up at home with a blanket playing Mahjong… bliss.
19. Afternoon tea with Clare… it wasn’t as tasty as it looks unfortunately, but I always enjoy spending time with Clare :)

~ You can see more of my 365 photos here and I’m sharing them on Instagram too ~

p.s. I’ve updated the Films I Use page to include all the film that I’ve ever used, its a bit crazy now with nearly 25, but it looks much better and more organised. Have a look if you’re interested.

365 / 2013 1-10

This year I decided to start a 365 project. I’ve been thinking about it for a while and it took me ages to decide on how to do it. In the end I decided just to use my phone. I wanted to do a film one, but during the week my days are pretty dull and most of my photos are taken in the evening where I wouldn’t really be able to use my film cameras without a flash and I’m not a huge flash fan with film.

Also, I’m trying not to take this project too seriously, most of my favourite blogs and instagram accounts, are by people who are really good at capturing those everyday moments and I want to get better at that, rather than focusing on the quality of the photos, its the content I want, even if the highlight of my work day is a chocolate bar lol. So here are the first 10 days, I’m pretty impressed that I’ve managed it so far and I’m even in half of them in some way too.

365/2012 - Jan 1-10

1. A winter walk on New Years Day before a pub lunch.
2. A GIANT Reese’s Peanut Butter cup from my Uncle’s visit to NYC, I didn’t even know they made him so big!
We cut it into 8 in the end.
3. Messing around with reflections whilst we took down the christmas decorations.
4. A glass of my favourite wine, in my PJ’s. Yup.
5. New boots to go with my new skinny red cords. Now I just need to be brave enough to wear them outside haha.
6. My parents got me Tunisian crochet hooks for Christmas, which I love, so I’ve been practising my simple and knit stitches.
7. I’ve been feeling ill for a while now (turns out I have an ear AND throat infection, nice) so new favourite TV shows in bed are the way forward. (Anyone else like Once Upon a Time? I watched the whole 1st series in a week!)
8. New Kit Kat chunky’s!! We tried all of the last ones that they released, so we’re trying all of these too. So far the mint is my favourite, yum! The coconut wasn’t as nice as I wanted though.
9. A pretty view out of my work window for once.
10. Thomas got a snuggy for Christmas as part of a secret santa and this is the first time I wore it, with a hoody too. It’s cold.

Is anyone else doing a 365 project? I’d love to see how you’re finding it. I’m hoping I manage to do the entire year.

Have a great weekend!
