fireworks

I’m just now getting back into the swing of things after a wonderful Christmas holiday back home with my family in Canada and a fabulous New Year’s Eve celebration here in Reykjavík. Good times, but exhausting!

One of the highlights of my trip was getting to meet my brand new little nephew Archie. He’s such a cutie!

For his Christmas present I made a granny stripe blanket using this great tutorial over at Attic 24. I decided to make each stripe 3 rows wide instead of 2 (not exactly sure why, it just kind of turned out that way) and made it in Kambgarn, which is a lovely, soft merino baby yarn processed in Iceland.

I’m told the blanket is getting used a lot, which makes me happy.

I also managed to finish the flat-bottomed tote I started before the holidays just in time to send it as a thank you gift for H’s aunt, who has knitted two very beautiful sweaters for me (I will try to get some decent pics of me wearing them), and a pair of slippers for H’s mom (sort of like the grey ones from this post).

I haven’t started any new projects yet, but I did get some gorgeous alpaca yarn from my brother and his wife for Christmas, so I’m looking forward to making something special with that. I’ll also be reopening the Etsy shop soon and have some ideas for new products, as well as plans to revamp the website/blog a little bit. All in good time though.

Here’s wishing everyone a wonderful 2012!
