This Might Be The Year I Buy an iPhone

I want one. It’s cool and sexy, but not yet productive enough for me. According to Fortune Magazine, I’m not alone. It won’t be universally accepted by the IT departments of the world (nor should it be) until it takes care of these issues…

1. The iPhone doesn’t natively push business email or over-the-air calendar sync — now that I’ve enjoyed this with my Motorola Q for awhile, I don’t think I could live without it.
2. It doesn’t support securing data on the device through encryption.
3. Can’t be remotely locked or wiped if the phone gets lost or stolen. With my Q, our team can send a signal and wipe out all sensitive data if the phone falls in the wrong hands.

Perhaps they’ll fix these issues this year…then I’ll jump on the bandwagon.
