LOVE LIST #63

February 24, 2013

I thought it’s the right time to whip up a Love List – I’m trying to wake up from my slumber and into writing mode again. Here’s a Love List for all the things I’m lovin’ and for all the things I’m thankful for!

* I am writing for Jane Pratt. I know I’ve been going on about this, but yesterday when Jane replied to me on Twitter, it actually did sink in that she’s my boss

* My room is filled with so much junk [that I love, and have acquired over the years] and it could certainly use a makeover, but I love being in it so. When my tush touches my bed, there is no where else in the world I want to be [except to transport J into my bed as well!]. Here’s a Vine of my room.

* Have you watched GirlsYes, we don’t get it in Singapore [and I can't wait to be packin' for the US], but Girls is a TV show that has me obsess over it, gets me uncomfortable, and makes me go, “WTF is going on?!” I first got on to it when J and I were watching it over the holidays in his parents’ kitchen, and we were trying to make sense of it. And then, I caught more episodes on the plane. Now, I download every episode every Monday. What I would give to get Hulu here!

* This time last year, this was what I was thankful for.

* Sleep masks I never understand why people need sleep masks when they sleep at home, because I imagine it’d be uncomfortable. TMI here, but I like to be in as little clothes as humanly possible when I’m in bed. But when you’re on a plane however, you’ll never thank the heavens more than when you’re armed with a sleep mask, you have a neighbour who has his light on throughout the flight and all you want to do is fall the fuck asleep. I just bought this one!

What’s been on your Love List recently?

Be fearless, and be fabulous, kitty cats!

Yes, I’m neither American, nor in America, but I am festive, so Happy Thanksgiving, dollface! I can’t believe the last week of the second last month of the year is almost upon us, and I have so much to be thankful for!

* Healthy relationships I was just thinking about this yesterday. People who are in my life, whom I communicate and are in touch with are people who I’ve chosen to be a part of my life. I’m not obligated because of ties, I don’t have to be all PR-y with these people, and that’s the way I’d like it to be. People in my life are people who I want to be part of me. I like to think I’ve eliminated every bad blood, and every toxic individual. I was watching the lastest episode of The New Normal, and their last scene had a wonderful quote:

“Family is who you choose, it’s the relatives who are chosen for you.”

And God only knows how much I detest my relatives. ;o)

My family is J, and my parents, and my brother, and Fadzlin and Denise, and Andrea and all the people I surround myself with that make me happy, who I turn to when I need help, who will be there for me even though they were fuming mad at me the day before. Because that’s what family is.

* A future I’m thankful for a future. I love knowing that the best years of my life have yet to come, and I love that I know whose hand I will be holding while taking on the world together.

* Allegra I can’t even begin to tell you how thankful I am for Allegra. If you have been given shitty, absolutely useless antihistamines to tackle your eczema or allergies, ask for Fexofenadine. On days when I want to tear out my skin, I pop two and I get completely knocked out and wake up blissful. It’s amazing.

* A great job I may complain that I have to use a PC at work [serious fucking piece of shit, the Windows platform] every single day, but I have a kickass job and wicked colleagues. I never thought I’d actually enjoy going back to working in an office after working from home for so long. Who’d have thunk?!

* All the travelling I’ve done in the past year, and all the travelling I’m about to do Every year, I’m in disbelief at the places I’ve been, the places I’ve slept in, and the places that I still have yet to see! This year, J and I have gone to the Gili Islands and Boracay together, and I’ve gone to LA twice, and in 22 days [!!] for the third time, where I’ll be spending a longer time there. Then we’re flying to the East Coast for the holidays, which means in total, back and forth, I’ll be in six different planes, travelling almost 34,000km all over the place all over the world just in the next month. Holy crap.

* Functioning everything Yes, I could lose some inches, yes, I could have a little less allergies, yes, I could have smaller feet, but I’m thankful for functioning everything, and being able to walk, and practice yoga and do the things I want to do. I’m thankful for the ability to think, and to push myself into realms of physical and mental engagement that lets me be better than yesterday’s Faz. Because life is not proving that you’re better than other people, it’s about making sure that your today self is better than yesterday’s.

* My wardrobe Who am I kidding? I love my wardrobe. There are things in there that would be family heirloom: There are shoes that I would keep for a lifetime, beautiful coats and dresses that would wonderfully be vintage chic and quirky bags and weird jewellery that would take a future generation to love as much and appreciate. I have bought some awesome things this year that I’ve worn over and over. Quality over quantity, although I have to give in to Hello Kitty tees from time to time. ;o)

And there you go, that’s my 2012 Thanksgiving Love List. Let’s make this a new thedramadiaries tradition, shall we? What are you thankful for?

LOVE LIST #61

October 13, 2012

Hello lovers! I am blissfully buried under my sheets on a Friday night after a long week, and what better way to reflect and give thanks than a Love List!

* Reunited in 13 days! While some people have been luckier to have budget airlines and flexible schedules to see the beaus when in a long distance relationship, I can’t complain myself. J has been in LA for five months come end of this month, and we’d have spent close to a month if I put the days of my trips – the last, and the one coming – together! It could be better, but it could always, always be worse, and for now, I’m in great spirits because I will be seeing him in less than two weeks!

* Move over, ASOS Instead of dresses and shoes, shopping that have been sent to my doorstep [and to be honest, my boyfriend's doorstep] lately are booty shorts and tanks for hot yoga. When I started, I just threw on cheapie tights with tanks, until I downward dogged, and looked at my ass through my legs on the mirrored wall at the back of the class and realise that I’ve sweated through my thin cheap tights to reveal my Victoria’s Secret hot pink knickers to the world. Good job, Faz.

* Tis’ my most favourite time of the year The last quarter of the year brings me so much joy. Starting with Halloween of course. Not only are you allowed to dress up, be sparkly, and pretty, and ridiculously ghouly as you want, it is also J’s and my anniversary! We’re two this year and I couldn’t be happier.

* Other worthy mentions This AWESOME chocolate spoon that my Will [as in Will & Grace] got me from Korea / Fresh lilies! / Disney Priness Bandaids / The New Normal / HALLOWEEN! / Stay-home Saturdays/ Welcoming Fall with wide open arms / luxurious scented candles/ Zara Home in the US – I’m going to pass out from sheer excitement! /

What’s on your Love List, dahhhlings?

LOVE LIST #60: A CALI SPECIAL

September 1, 2012

I’ve been away for a week now, since last Saturday, but while all y’all in the other hemisphere are falling asleep [or out partying] on Friday night/ Saturday morning, I’ve just woken up from my slumber to face another sunny day in Los Angeles.

* Mexican food is just the best. It’s spicy and cheesy, and flavourful. I had this taco yesterday:

Marinated grilled steak served on a warm stone-ground corn tortilla with toasted cheese, topped with buttery avocado slices, habanero citrus salsa and creamy chipotle sauce, a cilantro/onion mix and cotija cheese. Of course, I’m eating steamed vegetables today, but it was totally worth the calories.

* Shopping I haven’t been shopping. Can you believe it? I walk in and out of stores empty handed, and instead, I scout for the nearest Pinkberry for a froyo. I did however, buy four pairs of shoes, but only two were for me and I needed sandals to replace the ones I wrecked.

* Yelp I can’t believe I’ve only just discovered the Yelp app. Sure, I turn to it when I’m googling establishments but only thanks to my friend Vanessa, I’ve downloaded the app and it’s such a saviour when you’re unfamiliar to a place and looking for shops/ nail salons/ food/ coffee/ whatever. If you’re travelling to the US, download this baddass motherfucka.

* The Pacific Ocean I took my first dip in the Pacific Ocean yesterday and it was cold! What was cooler was the fact that as we were walking to the beach, we saw three wild dolphins just randomly swimming near shore. This city girl had her mind blown. I also saw a wild bunny whilst hiking which got me excited. Such a dork, seriously.

* Time with J I’ve missed J so, so much and it has been such a treat being able to spend so much time with him. Relationships usually mean that you see one another on a regular basis, but long distance relationships are a whole new dimension of mind fuck all together. Time and distance are not my best friends, so for now, I’ll just relish in the sweet comfort knowing that he’s an arm’s length away, until I bid him farewell in a few days.

What’s on your Love List, sweethearts?

LOVE LIST #59

July 31, 2012

GUYS. Where has 2012 gone?! We’re crossing over to the month of August in the matter of winks and shimmys. The eighth month of the year. Eighth! If you haven’t got your resolutions pat down, read what I whipped up around this time last year and see if something hits home.

If you can’t be bothered with what I have rambled on about a year ago, or you’ve got your life sorted out, here’s Love List #59!

* Is there anything more satisfying than hitting your desk at work promptly at 9.30am, and looking up to realise that it’s already 6? Time has whirred by like batshit crazy and you’ve finished a mountain of work. Monday blues? What blues!

* While we’re on the subject of time, I need the month of August to go by really, really fast and pause when 25 August comes around cos’ that’s when I’m jetting off to see my beau in the City of Angels. I can’t wait to hit the beach [in my new Agent Provocateur bathers, no less!], go on long walks, and veg out in front of the telly cuddling. And inhale some kickass fish tacos as well, of course. If you’ve got places I absolutely have to go in LA, holla atcha girl!

* The Honest Toddler is the funniest blog I’ve come across for a while. Sometimes, it becomes downright nasty, but most of the posts crack me up. Circulate the link around the office for hours of procrastination and uncontrollable humour.

* These sexyass pancakesThey look absolutely delish, but I’m actually not the biggest fan of sweet food. Neither am I a fan of food that mixes dessert with savoury – like chicken stuffed crepes. No. Nutella is meant to be in that crepe, and nothing else. Don’t try to alter perfection.

* Other worthy mentions  Downward dogging | Xiao in town! | Magic Mike rolling out in the local theatres around the corner | Squats = Awesome legs | LuluLemon anything | Seeing my boyfriend in 25 days (!!!) | Pinkberry, come to momma! | New IceCreamCandy sandals | My cousin Mush & fam coming to SG in a couple of days! | Also new – my ceramic maracon trinket thinggies |

Is it wrong to start packing my bags now?
