Having my first child made the 2009 race season more about maintenance and less about advancement for me. It really forced me to target races. I did get to experiment a bit through mountain bike racing and will hopefully race my first XC race as well. I figure the more kinds of racing I can do, the more flexibility I will have to keep racing. I’m looking forward to getting a little creative with the training this off season and if the gamble pays off, I’ll hopefully see more top 10 results or at least end up being a better lead-out.
