Head in the Clouds: Tinman Gallery First Friday
Friday, February first brings us the first Visual Arts Tour of 2013, and with it, a rather unexpected show of new work at the Tinman Gallery.
The show is hosted by the Spokane Art School. Jodi, manager of the aforementioned school, approached me about a February show at a mid-December gathering at Kay O’Rourke’s house. At that moment I was enjoying maybe a little extra of my beloved Goatmeal Stout, sporting a jester hat with holiday ornaments attached, and feeling equal to anything.
The following morning I realized I had no new work and no time to prepare. Naturally, I didn’t mention this until it was far too late, and the show plan was finalized. I made up a show title, painted a 6′ oil to go with it, then made about six new pastels in record time. Nothing like a deadline for inspiration!
The new work further explores my recent themes of skies and weather, depicted with billowy and translucent hydrangea petals. Debuting with this new work will be a new, lighter and more modern presentation.
Please join me for some new art, music from Rick Singer and friends, and hopefully a little Goatmeal Stout. Here are the details:
