Tools for Blogging and Life: Things
For some a to-do list will suffice, for others like me, I brainstorm a list that looks like a storm literally hit my Moleskines. My to-do lists look like my thoughts- unorganized, messy, and when I finally come back to it, the project is most likely late, and I have no idea where I began let alone ended.
This is where I highly benefit from Things. Things is different from apps such as Remember the Milk, or my once online to-do list, Teux Deux. It’s not just a list- it allows you categorize each item, tag it, schedule it, archive it, has a section for “projects” that can turn into various lists for that project.
You can have a to-do list of your to-do list!
I love the scheduling task. Instead of having an alarm or a reminder elsewhere, Things can provide a custom schedule.
Things also syncs to all things Apple in my home- my iMac, MacBook Pro, iPod Touch, and iPad. I know it also syncs with iPhone, which would come in handy if I owned one. This means I can picked up where I left of no matter where I am or what other crazy idea comes to mind.
There’s also tags; i can search for items in the search box at the bottom of the app. It makes those ideas come faster and faster.
It’s also easier to see on your screen when you have scheduled something for the day or filed under “Today”.
As much as I love the simplicity of pen and paper, the simplicity can turn to chaos. Things helps me get my tasks not only organized, but done. Sure, there is the satisfaction of physically crossing off that item one by one, but the ultimate satisfaction is seeing an idea turn into a success.

I'm right in the thick of my search for the perfect organization tool/app! Things looks good, and I like that it really look likes a Mac app, and seems to have some GTD integration!
i think you just saved my somewhat disorganized life with this post. sometimes a moleskin diary just isn't enough for the other things, this is a great idea.love to see that you also love mac.
My moleskin is such a hotmess as well! This is such a great tool! You may have just saved my life. hahaha. <3
oh, man. you are way more organized than me!
Oooh! I love this! I'm always making lists and brainstorm webs. I have a google phone so I use google calendars and tasks to schedule my life. I don't know what I'd do without it. My phone was stolen, and while that was really shitty, all my information was still stored on my google account so I could retrieve it for my new phone. yayyi want to try out things. maybe if i get an ipad
i love to do lists! I'm definitely checking out the remember the milk and teux deux apps!
Wow! That is so awesome & beyond me & my non-mac self. I was thinking about switching to all apple this xmas & with all these amazing tools I may just have to. Yikes, I'm an organized mess! How fun!=)
I use my work outlook for this, but it doesn't help me when I have things to do on the weekend.
thanks for that! i need more organization in my life!
that looks cool…if i wasn't phasing away from apple, i would be so in! this music situation really has me bummed out!
i'll have to look into this. i'm a moleskin kind of girl, but it doesn't really work for me b/c i forget to write down my ideas or i lose the moleskin!
that is too cool! except i won't pay 40bucks for it! hehe
Oh my goodness, this is glorious. I'm very dedicated to my moleskine but anything to organize ideas even more is never a bad thing!
Where has that been all my life?
Omg I need to do this. I am archaic. I carry around a owl planner meant for a 12 year old to write things down in and also use a dry erase board.
Hmmm might give it a try! Thanks for the tip!
oh i live my life with lists, notably on my blackberry
your blog is great!!xxxxx
my life is a scattered mess! i've got lists going all the time, if i only knew where to find them once i put them down. i'm going to download that program now!! it looks wonderful.
I didn't even realize I had all these features on my Mac. I should really explore what my super duper nifty laptop can do after all
I tried Remember the Milk, but I just never got into it. I've been getting used to carrying around a notebook and just writing to do lists. Digital to do lists have never done it for me, but i'll take a look at this one!
downloaded it! thanks for the tip. this looks amazing.
You're my new hero. This is awesome. thanks for sharing!
