“The end of Excel as a reporting platform”

“Organizations typically resort to using MS Excel as a reporting tool simply because there is nothing else as easy to use or as flexible. I Highly Recommend this tool. ”

Laurent Féral-Pierssens, Silentale Founder & CEO

“Bime makes it possible…anywhere, any time”

“We needed a visual tool that would allow us to quickly publish our KPIs in a web browser, and we wanted to avoid using different tools to create dashboards. We chose Bime™ because it met all these needs, and we haven’t looked back since.

The great thing about this highly visual and interactive tool is the speed at which it was implemented into our business, with no direct costs and or support required from our IT department. We were able to use Bime™ straight off the mark, and we have found that our team has responded very well to its adoption.

Bime™ has brought unprecedented value to Arcelor Mittal – it has enabled us to quickly disseminate our data and make it accessible anywhere, anytime and to anyone.”

Laurent Mayer, AMDS Purchasing IT, Audit & Control, ArcelorMittal, France

“Easy to use..and highly affordable!”

“I was looking for a tool to help me analyze my data more deeply, and the only thing I used to have was Excel, which is great but has some limitations. I tried some other BI options but they were very difficult [to use] and costly to implement, and in most cases required IT area support.

Bime is a very easy and friendly app to use, with no technical knowledge necessary. In the end [it] is cheaper and requires much less time to implement than its competitors.

It helps me to get vital information every day that is necessary [for me] to take important decisions. Also [it helps me] to standardize information throughout the company.”

Luis Butron, Managing Partner, Popured, Mexico

“No training needed”

What were your needs when you chose Bime™?

“We were looking for a “easy-to-use” tool, with a user friendly interface for developers and good visualization possibilities to create flexible and “flashy” dashboards. All without expensive start-up costs like hardware installations and high license fees.

How has Bime™ responded to these needs?

Bime has perfectly matched these needs. Without any training at all, the experienced BI developers were able to create dashboards and retrieve data from several sources.

What level of added value has Bime™ brought to your job / your business?

As a vendor of solutions besides consulting and executive search services, we have created several dashboards which we offer our clients. On top of this, we’ve created a number of demo versions which we can show easily at any time and any place to visualize the power of good BI-tooling. Our clients love the flexible way we can create a simple pilot at ‘run-time’ based on their own data.

Eclectic is also developing reports and dashboards for internal use, e.g. weekly finance reporting, CRM-reporting, sales performance reports and a Sustainability Dashboard.

Why did you choose to also become a partner of Bime™?

One of the items of our vision for BI is that the choice of easy-to-use BI-tools is the basis for the success of BI within the organization. Although BI is not just tooling, the choice for the right tooling will empower the business and place them in the “driver’s seat”. This is what BI is all about, while the IT-department is the supporting party. Bime is a tool which has these capabilities, and the potential for the next period is even more exciting!”

Eclectic, The Netherlands

“Impressive combination of data mining and mapping”

Bugseye, an Australian consultancy which helps regions in the country identify which businesses to attract to spur economic development and growth, has recently tapped We Are Cloud’s Bime solution to enhance their intelligence-driven business. Impressed with the combination of data mining and mapping, Bugseye plans to implement Bime for use across all facets of their client-planning, from local to regional governments and their programs. Steve Harvey, managing director, will use Bime to help communities hone their economic development programs, e.g. in the western part of Sydney where new suburbs are the prime driver for new housing.

Thanks to Bime’s sophisticated mapping function produced in easy to assimilate dashboards, Bugseye can now advise a government with pinpointed suggestions what businesses and industries they should attract to what growing communities. Though they’ve just deployed Bime, Harvey notes that internal teams are responding positively to the output they can generate and share thanks to Bime.

Steve Harvey, Managing Director for Bugseye, Australia

“Bime is a beautiful business intelligence solution”

What were your needs when you chose Bime™?

“I wanted keep more track of my business, needed more insight. In short, I wanted to convert my data (I already had a lot of data) to information, analyze that and then take steps to improve my business. Bime is a beautiful business intelligence solution to do that. It gives you a clear view, whereas otherwise you have the feeling you are in the dark. It also forces you to look at your processes and streamline them: it gives you direct insight into certain activities that have no added value.”

How has Bime™ responded to these needs?

“Bime Benelux implemented Bime very quickly, within a month. That was perfect for me. Also there are no assumptions, it is right in your face. So it makes certain subjects very clear. Since a lot of people think visually, Bime really helps them to analyse and take the appropriate action. Also it is like “storytelling”: you can tell a story by looking at my Bime dashboards because I see what is going on. We implemented it both for management and employees. So the employees have their own dashboard, that helps them to steer their actions themselves. Because it gives them insight into what they are doing, what their results are. In the end it confirms to them that they are doing things in the right way. I think Bime is a real powerful and user friendly solution, especially for SMEs up to 500 employees.”

What level of added value has Bime™ brought to your job / your business?

“It made my organisation more scalable, effective and efficient. In fact it is the implementation of a lean project we did last year. It makes you aware and gives you focus. And that is what I wanted. You can also say it gives the management and employees more rest. Because you can ask people certain things ten times, but now you can see the result yourself. And you should not pull out something that’s growing (changing) ten times a month, to check whether it already has roots. When you are able to look at it from a distance, that is better. It enhances my span of control and gives me the opportunity to grow without adding new managers.”

Nienke Ryan, Product & Strategy Manager at Spicy Lemon, Netherlands

SpicyLemon is a Dutch distributor of security and anti-virus software relying on a network of over 1500 partners and resellers. Bime cloud Bi has helped SpicyLemon to maintain a strong growth in a highly competitive market. Its products are distributed to clients within networks across Europe, ranging from small businesses to large international companies such as the digital agency LBi Lost Boys.

An internal knowledge management audit revealed the need for integrated systems to better capitalize on the existing data and learning experiences of the employees. Although the company had a lot of data, account managers did not have the information and KPIs to better identify opportunities and leads. There clearly was a need for a tool to blend financial, CRM and supply chain data, sourced from different relational databases, to close this information gap.

Bime’s Benelux partner in The Netherlands suggested Bime as the perfect solution to help SpicyLemon make sense of all their data. The initial reaction of Nienke Ryan, the company’s product and strategy manager, to Bime’s visually appealing interface was very positive, so she decided to try out Bime. She discovered that Bime was a very beneficial tool for the company. Bime Benelux supported Spicy Lemon with the implementation of the OLAP connection, by training their business analyst and by giving advice during the creation of the first dashboards. With the intuitive drag-and-drop interface, the solution was easy to use and allowed the non-technical managers to mine their own data. SpicyLemon developed new KPIs based on their value chain, utilizing Bime.

In addition, as a company selling security solutions, the security of their own data was also a top criterion for choosing a BI solution, and in particular, a solution that ran in the cloud. The company heavily scrutinized the security levels of Bime and conducted extensive testing to ensure data security.

Nienke and several of the managers at SpicyLemon now use Bime on a daily basis to look at their KPIs, to blend sales and financial data for an effective CRM. Having a financial background, Nienke could easily analyze financial data but not her sales managers. They weren’t familiar with Excel at the level that they could make queries and KPIs and see what was changing month by month. Now with dashboards designed per market and relevant KPI’s, they find it easy to use financial data to manage their business segments and use the information in every state of the analysis process. Bime has added a great deal of value to the analytical culture of the company. Because Bime connects to a wide set of datasources, SpicyLemon can even analyze their webmarketing data with Adwords campaigns results, by creating an internally shared activity dashboard.

Using deep analysis of their data, presented in simple and clear visualizations and dashboards, Bime has helped SpicyLemon to maintain a strong growth in a highly competitive market. It helps the company focus on and use their resources effectively and enables the company to lower costs and further increase brand awareness.

Wilfred Mijnhardt, Exeutive Director of the Erasmus Research Institute of Management – ERIM;

Impacting your performance profiling with powerful visual messages

About our customer Wilfred Mijnhardt & the Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM):

Wilfred Mijnhardt is executive director of the Erasmus Research Institute of Management, at the Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The institute is the joint initiative of the Rotterdam School of Management, the international business school at Erasmus University and the Erasmus School of Economics. ERIM is a community of around 350 researchers in the field of management. Wilfred himself has been at the Institute for 12 years and has helped build the organization from scratch into a research institute with a worldwide reputation. ERIM is consistently ranked among the top 3 research institutes in management in Europe and top 25 worldwide.

About the Erasmus Institute’s needs :

The institute produces lots of data to disclose and much of this data goes into publications like an annual report which is viewed primarily by academic stakeholders but also by business and a wider societal audience.

ERIM strives for academic excellence and impact by targeting top journals in management research. Wilfred wanted to show with dynamic and web-based analytics that ERIM had effectively brought the field of management research at Erasmus University to a top international level, covering a perspective of 10 years. He wanted to produce dashboards with statistics and intelligence to gain insight into the scope of their academic performance pattern with KPIs such as the number of publications, selections on the top publications, per countries, per field of research, …

Displeased with the blandness of the school statistics profiling reports, Wilfred looked for a way to bring his data to life! With so much data from a range of different sources, Wilfred needed to get his dashboards set up. He needed a solution which was then user friendly and quick & easy to use, which offered a variety of visualizations and dashboarding tools to extract the true potential from his data. As Wilfred notes, the ability to share his dashboards and for his users to be able to interact with the data, was also of optimal importance:

“Visitors to the website, especially our academic peers, would like to play with data and experience the transparency of our performance system, not just look at it”

Wilfred commented that the combination was the key, the process of: obtaining the data from multiple databases, analysing and processing this data, and then displaying it through effective visualizations. All three needed to be efficient to fully leverage the true value of the data. It was the combination that delivered the magic.

Why Bime ? How has Bime responded to Wilfred’s needs ?

With much talk in the industry about the potential of using analytics to track school profiling reports, Erasmus were keen to be the first movers within the academic and university market. The Institute is very proud of their academic results and publications and was keen to implement a modern solution which could fully exhibit their data. Bime was suggested as the solution to fit their needs by our Dutch partners, KJP Consultants. Wilfred comments that the “liveliness of the visualizations in Bime was the initial trigger”.

In continued and “very pleasant” co-creation with Bime, the institute now puts out a dynamic annual report with trends and analytics. The dashboards represent data for input, output and productivity at this institute and are drawn from multiple databases holding Erasmus’ research information systems. At time of writing they have produced 6 years worth of dynamic annual reports and have plans to soon expand this to cover a 10 year period, all of which are available to view at any time online on their website.

In a break from traditional dashboards, the dashboards take several seconds to load because they update /a>with real-time data and are not static. They provide updates and interactive features for the viewers in the context of the website. One of the main advantages Wilfred has found is that stakeholders can interact with the dashboards to fully explore the data. This helps reassure them about the information organization, that performance measurements systems are in good shape at the company and also fully shows off the data. Wilfred is impressed with the strong range of visualizations available in Bime and in particular makes use of the publishing options, which allow ERIM to embed the dashboards in reports and emails as well as sharing them with stakeholders, fellow academia and the world, on the institute website. Working in conjunction with the website, the dashboards allow users to learn a lot simply by scrolling the dashboards, providing “a very rich insight of company performance over the years”.

What about our Bime partner KJP Consultants ? What help did they provide Wilfred?

After first signing up for Bime, Wilfred worked closely with KJP Consultants and was in dialogue with Bime HQ in France, to make Wilfred’s vision a reality and KJP provided conclusive support to fully explore and optimize the functionality of Bime. KJP particularly assisted Wilfred to fuse his many databases in Bime and in harnessing the post-processing power of Bime. From a technological point of view KJP helped Erasmus take multiple data sets and create a chain of information, connected by Bime to provide an overview of all the Institute’s data. Wilfred describes KJP as the “bridge” between the analytics and the corporate world. He added that it was a fantastic help to have a local Bime consultant and the KJP team provide “great support” and have “huge empathy” for the customer.

Did Wilfred realize his vision with Bime ?

Erasmus share their dashboards online, through their website, available here. Wilfred has received a lot of positive feedback particularly from fellow professors and from the academia network worldwide. Users enjoy how the dashboards present live analysis and how they are extremely collaborative, with many users asking Wilfred how he creates such dashboards. The institute is proud of their cutting edge research and are now pleased to have an innovative tool to mirror their research and to inform their stakeholders.

Erasmus currently has plans to utilize the analytical power of Bime to do more data crunching and use BIME as a presentation layer on top of some of the more technical academic software such as SPSS and STATA and make the results more user-friendly with Bime.

Thank you to our customer Wilfred Mijnhardt for accepting this interview and to our Bime partner for Benelux, KJP consultants. November 2011.

Rouge Interactif Testimony with Steeven Delbecq, Head of Web Analytics Projects

What were your needs when choosing Bime?

Our main need was to make the reports we provide to our customers more attractive and accessible, some reports may include dozens of tabs and queries.

Did Bime meet your expectations?

Bime met our expectations on several points:

  • Our reports are now attractive and extremely visual, initial feedback from the customers is that they really like the new reports and they make life easier.
  • Bime allows us to analyze the entire history of our data and to play with it during our presentations so our reports make a greater impact than with an array of static data.

What level of added value has Bime brought to your business?

Bime has increased the quality of communication with our clients and makes life easier. One of the most common requests is that we update the reports with new charts/graphics. For example our customers are asked to present new analysis to their board or they have been discussing new interests for new analysis in a meeting prior to new product launch. With Bime we can reassure our customers that we are quickly able to respond to this request and the changes can then be accessed straight-away online.

Also as a web-analyst with many reports to be updated every week, Bime allows me to save time by automating updates. Also, I do not need to send large files that clutter the mailboxes because I am able to send the url link to the report.

Could you briefly describe your user case and the features in Bime you use most?

Initially it was the “Query Blender” & Pivot table for ad’hoc analysis capabilities I used the most to create a list of queries followed by a list of dashboards with multiple tabs. The automatic updates to my Excel file are also very practical.

Thank you to Steeven for his testimonial.

Government Open Data initiative: Ministry of Justice for British Columbia

With the help of Bime, the Province of British Columbia (BC, Canada’s western most province) recently published their data on the province’s court systems.

The Aim

Their aim is to become more transparent and to open up their data for use by the province’s citizens, businesses, media and academics. To achieve this the department worked in partneship with Bime to produce dashboards visualizing the statistics and key measures from all the province’s courthouses. The dashboards present interactive data visualizations displaying information geographically and broken down into easily accessible, user-friendly graphs and pie charts. Users are able to drill-down and search statistics from individual regions or courthouses. Statistics include the number of new court cases, months to case conclusion, court hours and scheduled court appearances for the three levels of court in BC.

The Proccess

Dan Chiddell, Director, Strategic Information & Business Applications for the BC Ministry of Justice gave us some feedback on the proccess and the general response to the dashboard:

“The Bime team proved to be very agile and quickly responded to a very aggressive three-week deadline to meet the Ministry’s requirement to develop, implement and announce the new dashboard.”

With a 9 hour time difference between BC and Montpellier this could perhaps have been a stumbling block but collaboration proved very effective between the Ministry and Bime staff. The project was completed on time and on budget. Speaking of the tool itself the Ministry commented:

“The BIME software tool that was used proved to be very flexible and effective for data dashboard displays”.

The Response

“To date the feedback received has been overwhelmingly positive and there are plans to add more content in the future.”

The dashboards can be found on the BC Ministry of Justice website by clicking on the “Dashboards” link or by clicking the screenshot below.

BC is the first province Canadian province to create a website like DataBC dedicated to their data and containing around 2,700 data sets. The BC government hopes making the data available to the public will show the daily challenges faced and help keep the public informed.
