We have three of these tablets for our daughters and would have more if they hadn't sold out at CHristmas. GREAT tabet for the money. 2 of our 3 tablets did start having issues with charging, there was something wrong in the charger usb so we have now sent the to VIZIO. Their customer service agents were AWESOME!!! All could speak English and were in the USA! So now I am hoping the part is covered since they are only 6 months old but up to this point we have been PLEASED! We will by Vizio again.

Got the Vizio tablet for mothers day and I am loving it. I love the way that it surfs the internet fast. The speakers produce great sound, have not had any problems with downloading or using any apps. I was able to find a case with keyboard for the vizio tablet on amazon for $4.99 and it hooks up and works great with the tablet. This tablet compared to the IPAD I think is far more better, esp for the price. You can't go wrong with purchasing this tablet.

First off, the Skype issue is not an issue with this tablet, its the way the Skype App is written. NOT the tablet, so don't look for a software update to fix this. Ask Skype. DUH. This is a great tablet for the money. By far top of the line, and many improvements can be made, but for 200 bucks less than an iPad AND flash support? Can't go wrong.

3.2 Honeycomb upgrade redefines all previous reviews. My only complaint is control buttons which are now on screen in some cases hide part of program information. Evidently the programs do not recognize this area is no longer available for viewing. Would like to see an auto hide feature to correct this. Other than that what's not to love!!!

- 8 inch 3/4 aspect ratio is perfect! Review by MultiAndroider
-
I bought this around xmas time for under $200 at a local warehouser. I love the 8-INCH SIZE and ASPECT RATIO (I hope the next generation of vtabs includes an 8" with this aspect ratio). And after the update to Android 3.0 (Honeycomb), I love this tablet even more (though the current launcher is a severely hobbled version. I use GO Launcher EX instead). The viewing angles could be improved, but the aspect ratio is great for viewing webpages and movies & videos. Although the widely used 7" widescreen (like on my Nook and Archos tablets) is decent, I prefer viewing webpages on my VTAB. I've found that 7" widescreens are awkward & 10" is just too big.
THE SPEAKERS on this thing is awesome (one of the best for a tablet). Improves my Netflix and video experiences tremendously. Music sounds pretty decent as well.
For my usage, the CPU and RAM are adequate--though it could use more RAM and I could see how apps in the near future could be a challenge for it. But 99% of the time, the tablet does a fine job (better so after the OS upgrade).
But everything is not all roses for this tablet. Some things I hope to see improved in next-gen tablets are: WEIGHT (this is pretty darn heavy, especially for long periods of usage), VIEWING ANGLES, SDCARD INTEGRATION (Better integration of SDCARD usage in OS), and LAUNCHER APP (a more standard launcher would improve the experience).(Posted on 4/21/12)

Bought mine last Sept with old operating system. Got the new Android upgrade automatically and love it. It now has longer battery life, faster. Easier to use. Read books from Kindle and Nook on it. Some flash issues but that will probably be resolved. Great buy.

- Review Update - 6 months later Review by BigBen

Right after I bought my Tablet at Costco, there was a price reduction to $189.95, it was a bargain before, now an even bigger one.
You must remember at $189 what do you expect?
The most recent automatic firmware update really elevated the overall user interface, And yes, corrected the on the side video in Skype.
Skype users will love the feeling of holding the display up close while connected. It provided a personal feeling, some thing you will never get from your lap top or desktop machine.
My emails (and their graphics) load slowly, Only $189, but it takes up only 50 or so square inches at my breakfast table, whether inside or out on my patio.
The graphic display is awesome, remember only $189.
The long recharge time doesn't bother me, I just set it up next to my phone at bedtime and let it recharge together. Only drawback I found with charging is that it only seems to recharge with the power plug and cord that came with the unit.
You have to define: to what use will you make of a tablet. This one won't replace your work station for serious stuff, but to watch a Netflix video, play chess, listen to music, visit your Library to download and read a book, all in the comfort of your favorite chair or bed this tablet is for you. Remember apps free and otherwise only make the experience so much better.
I would be remiss if i didn't mention Service. This is something you don't get to experience until you have bought a product, so listen up:
The Vizio service is remarkable with an all American team located in South Dakota, USA. You get to speak to some of the most interesting middle-American speaking people, who know how to address your problem and provide an understandable solution. I'm a high tech guy, they do it the right way and for as long as you have that tablet.

I got this tablet for Christmas. I had been wanting one for a little while and this was just the ticket. I was initially disappointed as it worked a little differently than other tablets I was familiar with.
It came with Android 2.3 and worked as well as I could expect.
A week ago when I turned my tablet on, I was in for a treat. Vizio upgraded the OS of the tablet to Honeycomb 3.2.
What a difference this made to the tablet. It turned a mediocre tablet into a great tablet.
It runs better, it looks better, and the battery life is so much longer than it was before.
I see where they are going to sell a 10" tablet now. I can only hope that it is as good if not better than their 8".

I have had this tablet since November last year, has been working great. Bought it at BJs club for $180.00 Had a few issues with the remote feature (but not a show stopper), this is why I bought this tablet. I also have a Transformer Prime since Christmas which I use also. Just wanted to say very happy with the unit and now that you have updated to HoneyComb which I did last night. The Tablet is even better, keep the updating going with the remote control feature.
Thanks

I have had this Since 11/2011 and I have gotta say I am very impressed with this little tablet I bought for my wife. I have also purchased a Archos 101 Internet which was nothing but a complete letdown compared to my Vizio. First, Vizio actually provides REAL updates that improve the device. Its Speed is OK and adequate. I was a little annoyed that some apps could not work because it was Gingerbread, but just today Vizio updated my tablet to HONEYCOMB 3.2.1 AND WOW!!!. It runs beautiful and even seems a little more responsive. Also note that with the Honeycombe update, unstall all but the standard music player provided by honeycombe. I had to do this because my bluetooth headphones controles would not work right. Once I unstall the other mplayers, all was good. The updates and support by Vizio have surpassed all my expections. As for my Archos which uses the same cortex A8, It is still stuck on Froyo with apparently no updates supported for my Archos Tablet. The Archos 101 is so also much more unstable than my vizio.
Can't wait for the 10" tablet so I can dump my Archos and finally let my wife use the 8" Tablet (since I really bought it for her)(Posted on 3/13/12)

I got my vizio tablet in Oct. at WalMart. I got it and the case for about $210. Right before Christmas, I was given an iPad for work. You should've seen the look on the apple girl's face when I told her I liked my tablet better than the iPad! My vizio does everything I need for it to do, even though it doesn't run on the latest version of Android.
The only downside is the battery life, and the amount of time it takes for it to recharge.
I'm also having problems with moving apps over to the SD card; I'll move an app over, but the card is still showing that I haven't used any space.
I've recommended the Vizio tablet to everybody who will listen.(Posted on 3/4/12)

Very nice 1st generation tablet. Others have noted some of the limitations but in general it is very reliable and good bang for the buck.
Costco had an excellent package at Christmas selling the earphones and case for a very reasonable price.
Looking forward to the 10" model with upgraded OS and features.(Posted on 3/1/12)

- Great Tablet!!! only 2 major Gripes so far. Review by Praxis
-
This is a sweet little tablet. Especially for the money. I got mine at Christmas.
It surfs pretty quick. Down loads fast and syncs to my computer to down load files to it. Boots up slowly, but that doesn't matter to me.
My first complaint is kind of a Biggie (depending on what you use the tablet for). And that is skyping with it. It automatically flips to its sideways mode when you activate skype, and when ever I skype with someone using anything but the Vizio tablet their video of me is sideways - this is a glaring error and should have a software update to fix it - Immediatly!!!
Which leads me to my second complaint and that is: this tablet is still running on Android 2.3 Which is fine for most things but I can not find a wireless keyboard that syncs with an operating system so old.
My Vizio Blu-ray player gets regular updates and honestly that really lent credit to me buying this tablet. So what I'm waiting for is the software update!!!
So other than these 2 gripes, this tablet does everything that more expensive tablets do. I have friends with Ipads, Ases Transformer, & Acer and they dont seem to have any features that I am lacking.
I would recomend this tablet to anyone looking to buy one. And despite my Gripes I really love it. 4 Stars.(Posted on 2/5/12)

My nephew saw the Vizio Tablet at Sams Club and started saving up for it. We matched him so he could get this for Christmas. He absolutely loves it. Great starting tablet for a tween. We also got him the accessory pack at Sams that came with cover. My nephew is 12 years old. The tablet was $300. Great price. He is also loving the fact that HIS tablet can control all our VIZIO t.v. sets around the house!

Got the Vizio tablet after a short lived bout with the Cruz and was ALOT happier with what I can do. It's a great reader, I can keep up with Email and Facebook and also bank, shop, write and play on it. My complaint is the little plug for the charger...I had to send the first one back as it loosened as previously mentioned. Hopefully, this will be addressed in future machines as it's really annoying as the shortness of battery life. But for $198 @ WM last Oct., I was glad I got as now they aren't available anywhere! If you're careful, you will like this little tablet just fine!!

Bought my vizio at Costo 3 months ago primarily to replace my Sony Reader. Not very elecronically literate and it took me a while but once I figured out how to use Overdrive Media to access the public libraries it became 10 times better than my reader. Then after trial and error I found that it can almost replace my PC, except for the keyboard which I find very cumbersome.
I would rate it 4 of 5 and if the battery would hold a charge longer than about 4-5 hours of use I would give it a 5. I must have at least 10 friends who bought the Vizio on my recommendation and I don't give that lightly.
I couldn't be happier (except for battery life).(Posted on 1/25/12)
- Great Product. Better Than people said Review by dgskizzle

I was stoked to get this tablet. I got it for christmas and had no problems with it. It can be a little slow sometimes but the longer i own it, the faster it seems to get.
I actually like the launcher it comes with. It is simple and intuitive, but i get that it is boring for an android device, since they are known for being highly customizable. But all you have to do, if you dont like the launcher, is download Go Launcher EX for FREE! it is incredible and you can set it up to look like anything you want!
I also tried Launcher Pro but Go launcher Ex seems much better and you can do more with it.
The way i have the tablet set up now, it amazes me that i paid 200 only dollars for it. It is so sharp and polished looking, it looks like a 400 dollar product.
The same with the design, this thing is put together amazingly. It feels very thin because the edges are curved, the back is rubery feeling which gives you grip and feels very nice. This tablet definately doesnt feel cheap!
WARNING!!! When you charge this tablet, DO NOT pick it up. Just leave it alone until it is done or else the one cheap feeling thing (The charging slot) will become loose and the tablet will not charge at all! They really should have designed that part better, it is almost a dealbreaker. But luckily, i have patience and leave it alone until it is done.
Dont get this off of amazon or vizio since it is like 300-350 dollars. I got this from sams club for 198 dollars.
But the thing is sams club and walmart no longer have this on their website, or in store. So i really dont know what the freaking deal is. This is a great product they should still carry it.
Maybe they stopped making them since vizio is coming out with a new 10 inch tablet. If so, i am glad i bought this when i did because i DID NOT want a 10 inch tablet, i specifically wanted a 7 or 8 inch tablet. Main reason i didnt want a iPad.
Pros
-cheap
-works great
-design
-sound is awesome
-sd card slot
Cons
-charger issue
Thanks once again vizio! when i wanted a great quality cheap tablet, they came out with one
When i wanted a 3dtv but hated the active shutter kind, they came out with a perfect 3d lcd tv!
Which reminds me read my review on the Vizio E3D420VX 3dtv (by dgskizzle)
Keep it up Vizio! BTW i am DEFINATELY Buying your Vizio laptop and the Vizio desktop PC!(Posted on 1/22/12)

I bought mine at Costco for 189.00. This tablet when set up right, apps put on SD card via App2sd application works GREAT!!. I travel (Planes/Airports)for a living and am always on the go. Email is great, Web browsing is GREAT. I do recomment GO Launcher EX. Turned mine into a VERY interactive unit. Today I bought the Remote Desktop app on the market and let me say... this tablet just became everything I need it for. Documents to go is a great tool as well.
Please keep in mind if you just open this up, download a bunch of apps and not manage their placement, you will be dissapointed or have small issues with speed. Again....please use the App2SD card app, GO Launcher EX with all the extras to create one great 3 dementional tablet.
At first I really liked my tablet, played around with the idea of taking it back just to be able to get the ASUS Transformer, but I kept it. Followed all the reviews, noticed suggestions and followed them. Now I have a tablet I LOVE!!! would not trade it for another one. Please use the applications to fine tune it, they work!! Also a family member bought me a Kindle Fire (not knowing I already had the Vizio) and I tried it out for about three weeks... the fire cant even do half the Vizio can, no access to FULL andriod market. Fire wasnt bad, just limited to tweaking and adding.
To recap... Manage the placement of apps, take the unit for a spin, try out different launchers... GO Launcher works best for me. I tried Launcher PRO for about 2 months and worked great, just like GO Launcher EX best as it really transforms it into a very interactive tablet, themes, layers, etc.. I installed a 16 gb microSD and seems to be all I need. With all the apps I have for excel work, word, powerpoint, GO LauncherEX, multiable saved price list for all my customers, many power points that I CAN link with a laptop, etc, etc... I have 14gb left on sd card, 1.98 gb on internal. never have a issue with speed. GO Launcher has a widget that sits on your home screen that show you all the programs or apps just running in background and you just have to touch the widget and it kills them all. simple, simple, simple.
Thank you Vizio!!! I hope I have provide help to those having questions about their tablet or those looking to buy. Try out my suggestions and I think you might find all works GREAT!!(Posted on 1/20/12)

I have recently purchased the Vizio VTAB1008, and it is a pretty reliable and efficient tablet! What is impressive is that it has the capability to connect via HDMI. Very user-friendly and responsive UI. I recommend this for anybody that is in the market for an inexpensive and portable tablet.

- My review from 11-13-11 and final thoughts Review by Chuckster

First off, this is a great tablet for the price, $189.00 at Costco. I have to agree with almost all the reviews that having a storage space for the SD Card and not being able to easily access it for placing apps on the external memory is one of it's biggest letdowns. You have to go into settings and find applications, and hit the manage your applications. Then choose your application and move it to your SD card. Very similar to your Android phone. It would be nice to have the option when downloading an app to be able to choose where the application should reside. Also, the OS seems to block some of the apps I want to use from the Market. I am very disappointed with that. My Android phone allows me to access them all, but yet a stylish well priced Android tablet keeps me from getting to them.
I have changed the look of the tablet with Launcher Pro and it feels similar to my Android phone. The tablet responds well without that much lag. The screen is very responsive to touch, which is a big plus to me. This size is perfect for typing and texting. I love the split keyboard when you go landscape with the pad. The weight however is surprisingly a little bit more than you'd expect in it's weight to size ratio. The battery life is so so. I kinda expected it to be about what it is. It lasts about as long as my netbook does in hours and usage.
OK Vizio, I know you are reading all these remarks. Time for you to go back and make some subtle changes and bring them to us via Version upgrade and you will have hit it outta the park. I would give this tablet a 4 out of 5 rating if that was applicable.
1-15-12
As you can see in my past review I was very happy with the tablet that Vizio has here. My only hope is that they make the next generation with a back camera and a dual core processor with at least a Gig of RAM. I wrapped this up and put it under my tree shortly before Thansksgiving and upon opening it on Christmas Day and charging it. I noticed many updates that came out during the month and a half I did not use it. I believe it is open to all the apps in the Android Market now, or very close to it.
Thank you Vizio for making a tablet that is cost conscious and user friendly. I cannot wait for the next generation tablet, as I will be purchasing another one.(Posted on 1/15/12)
- Nice tablet for the price Review by mochiko

It looks like the price dropped right around the time I purchased it in October at $189, which I thought was a great price for the features. Once I decided to keep it, I went back the next month for the cover and stylus and the priced had dropped on that as well, so I think I scored. No major issues so far, at first it only had 10.1 Flash Player and I couldn't play a lot of videos and some of the videos had a blue hue to them, but Vizio table did an automatic update about a month later and now it has 10.3. I don't have OOVO on mine and I'm not sure what that is. I used the tablet mainly for reading and browse the net now and then. it is heavy and bulky and my hand will cramp up after holding it so the cover/stand was a must. I tried out the Kindle Fire but the Vizio has a lot more features for the price. Haven't tried out a lot of the features on it yet such as the HDMI or remote and GPS. Battery doesn't last anywhere near10 hours as indicated but it's easy enough to charge it up daily,so overall, it's a great value.

Vizio 8” Tablet Review (original review dated September 2010)
I picked one up from WalMart about a week ago for $298.00. I currently have a Xoom tablet which I use heavily for work and school activities. The plan had been to wait for the Acer 7” tablet to come out and get one, but after reading about the 5 hour battery life and the fact that it runs Honeycomb I figured I would try out the Vizio. I’ll briefly discuss the following items and then provide my final thoughts
Finish – the Vizio looks and feels like an expensive piece of electronic gadgetry. The back has a nice grippy surface and the weight is just right for me. I have large hands so the proportions are just right. It also feels perfectly balanced. The screen smudges easily but this is true with all touch screen devices. The edges have a nice bevel to them that also helps when holding with one hand. Properly polished and shined up, this thing looks good on the coffee table, countertop or outside on the patio table. The look is more elegant than industrial / tech.
Hardware / Performance – the single core processor and 512mb of RAM perform very well for my needs. This thing has blazed thru every task I have thrown at it. Multi tasking, no problem. Streaming music from Digitally Imported radio while responding to emails and web surfing, no problem. Full screen YouTube, flash enabled web sites, VEMO music video watching, no problem. The Kindle app works great, the Zinio online magazine app works great. Switching between apps, screen transitions, everything is very fluid and smooth. I have experienced absolutely no lag, period. The display is bright and clear. Not the brightest out there but certainly very good. The viewing angles are also good. I have no need for a high res camera being as I have a Eye Fi memory card in my stand alone digital camera and I plan to use this around the house only. I’m going to assume this manages memory because I have yet to experience any app slowdowns. The wi fi signal is always strong regardless of my location inside or outside. The Bluetooth also works very well. The battery life is great. It normally lasts until 8 or 9 hours before throwing in the towel.
Software / Features – upon connecting to my home network, a major software update was downloaded and installed automatically. Not sure what it updated but it shows Vizio is committed to continually improving the device. The standard factory Vizio interface is boring so the first thing I did was install LauncherPro, a homescreen replacement app. With this I figured out how to easily change wallpaper and make the device look and operate the way I want. Because I have a Xoom I am familiar with the Honeycomb OS. Honeycomb is good, however, right now not a lot of apps are specifically coded for it. Gingerbread has a larger selection of apps and is more stable. Again, everything runs fast and smooth. I have installed the following apps and they all run with no issues: Kindle, LauncherPro, DI Radio, UberMusic, Jazz Radio, AudioGalaxy, 3, Audalyzer, You Tube, QuickPic, PicSay Pro, Mobo Player, Zinio, USA Today, Pulse Reader, News360, Engadget, Earthquake, The Weatherchannel, Lighting Bug, EventFlow, White Noise, Bible, UltraChron, RealCalc, Google Earth, Thinking space, Documents to Go, Catch, Astro and Dropbox, DirecTV, ConvertPad, Dolphin HD web browser, Final Countdown widget, Movies, Circle Launcher Pro, and XiiaLive. This device doesn’t support live wallpapers which I found strange. Tech support stated it may be a feature incorporated in a software update. The remote control and IR blaster work very good. It’s been programmed to control the following devices: 32” Vizio HD TV, 47” Toshiba HD TV, 40” Sony HD TV, Sony home theater receiver, Sony blu ray player, 2 DirecTV satellite/dvr receivers, Sony 5 disc DVD home theater system. Right now it doesn’t work for my PS3 or my Sony internet box but again, Tech support says those items may be addressed in an upcoming update.
Overall, I’m extremely pleased with this device. I would recommend this device to anyone looking for a low cost table that delivers excellent performance and value for the money.

I did the research...wanted an HP Touchpad..yeah..good luck, can't find an affordable one...decided on Kindle Fire...too many software issues...Nook Tablet..eh..no thanks....found the Vizio Tablet quite by accident at Walmart..didn't even know they made one. LOVE IT!!! It does everything that I want it to do. Web browsing, video, facebook, yahoo messenger, email, movies, music, etc. What an awesome little machine for an awesome price!! I searched all the stores in a 100 mile radius of my home and most of the places online where you could get one but couldn't find one available but finally managed to find the LAST ONE within a 50 mile radius of my brother's home in PA...he snagged it up for me before it was gone. Yes, it was worth all that effort just to get one!! I would recommend this tablet to anyone!!!

We bought three of this tablets.
I made a lot of research and this one is the right tablet for the right price.
For the price of the competitor I bought three.
you can not go wrong plus the user is not stock with only one market for your app purchases and I like that freedom.

This tablet is great. Vizio please DON'T make the next version of this tablet a ereader. I love this tablet for what it is and i can't wait for it's succesccor. All i am asking for is a daul core proccescor 1 gig of ram and a back camera. The kindle fire and nook tablet have daul core proccescors and they are even cheaper so if vizio could add that and still keep the tablet at the same price i would be happy I have had my vizio tablet since the beggening of september. Will vizio be showing the new tablet off at the consumer electronics show next week? Or in june when they release their new laptops and all in one p cs

Purchased this vizio tablet for myself before Christmas and absolutely love it. Very nice easy to set up. Has a great screen size, easy to view and read. It does everything that I want to do and so much more. Easy to take on the go, size is great. Also purchased the Vizio Freedom Bundle for it from Vizio.com. Another great value to protect my tablet. Also very happy with it too. Really like the Vizio products I have a 46" HD TV and a 22" HD TV and getting ready to purchase a 26" Razor Thin LED TV. Would recommend Vizio to anyone. Thanks Vizio.

My tablet was a Xmas gift. I can' charge it.The charger doesn't work so as of right now all I can do is use the USB with my computer. Battery gets hot and doesn't hold a good charge. Sam's Club is sold out and told me they wouldn't be getting any more. I called Vizio direct and they are out until the end of January. Of course my warranty for return is only 90 days.Cutting it pretty close, huh? The color is great . The sound was great if I could just get it charged fully i'd love it.

Got the tablet on Jan 1, 2011.
So far it is working good.
Battery life is good, not as good as my 3 personalized Nook Colors but decent enough.
Using the Remote App I can setup my Samsung TV with out a problem but I get a forced close when I attempt to setup my Zenith. Must be in the 5% minority.
I currently have a 8GB sdcard installed and can see it from the tablet and my PC. Odd thing you can't easily write to it. I am debating whether to return it or not.(Posted on 1/5/12)

Purchased this in October at Costco $189.00. Works well except for some game Apps and Skype. My problem is the charge jack. It's in a bad spot on the bottom and you can't keep in pluged in if you have in on a stand type cover. From day one i felt that this jack was flimsey and sure as anything it would no longer take a charge. Called Vizio and a replacement will be sent without any bickering. Good service.

- Data storage defect limits usefulness of VTAB1008 Review by HEPeters
-
I bought 2 VTAB1008s fro my wife and myself for Christmas. Since I expected to install a lot of apps, books, etc., I installed a 32GB micro SD card in each, and it reports 31.24GB Total Space and 31.24GB Available Space.
Carefully following the instructions in the manual, I tried to transfer as much as possible to the SD card. It reports that it has made the transfer, but I suddenly received an "internal memory full" message. It turns out that it treats 2.4GB of internal storage as if it were an SD card and all transfers go to that; it transfers absolutely nothing to the 32GB card. It still reports 31.24 GB as "available space", but it is apparently unable to access that memory.
Vizio's website claims: "Flexible Storage No need to pick favorites, the VIZIO Tablet has room for all your media. In addition to the 4GB of internal storage (approximately 2GB is available for user storage), you can add additional storage with the MicroSD™ slot. Now that’s entertainment freedom."
This claim is grossly misleading, since apps are unable to access the MicroSD slot for data storage. Apparently the only use for the MicroSD card is to download audio or video files while attached to your computer. Using Astro to access those files one can then use the VTAB for playback of those files--not very convenient, but doable.
Certainly it would only require a simple firmware modification to enable the VTAB user to select the MicroSD card as the default for app storage, rather than the 2.4GB internal storage that is erroneously called "SD card" storage. Undoubtedly a qualified programmer could effect such a simple change in an hour or less. Better still, set up an automatic link between the internal user storage and any installed external Micro SD card storage.
The VTAB1008 has the potential to be very competitive in the tablet marketplace, but the inability to use the external SD card for applications and applications data significantly limits that potential for the serious app user. Unless and until Vizio corrects this fault with a firmware upgrade, do not expect to gain any benefit for your apps from the installation of an SD card!
For my purposes this defect in storage usage changes my product rating to two stars from what would otherwise have been a five star rating. Too bad! It has the potential to be a great tablet if only it worked as advertized by Vizio!(Posted on 1/1/12)

Told I am running out room on my internal storage, that it should move the internal drive that. 2gb on each drive bought a 32 gb SD drive unable to get a whole moved to it. I have talked with other people who have the same problem. It appears that this is a problem that should be fixed. Also the internal drive is shows up when I hook it up to my laptop however I am unable to access it. Called in and was told that they have never heard of the problem, didn't find that helpful. Except the difficulty accessing the drives and moving apps and files to the SD drive I like it.

We've had our Vizio tablet for about a month now and LOVE IT!
Had a problem with Overdrive but tech services helped out - see the fix from Trish - she's so right and it did work - we are now reading ebooks and love them.
Yes it doesn't have the same battery life as the others, but who cares, for the price - it's about the same as the eReaders out there but has so much more available.
Can't wait to take it on our trip in 2012. Thanks Vizio.(Posted on 12/30/11)

Bought mainly as an e-reader, works best with the Kindle reader app.
1. Overdrive app was difficult but I see Trish's fix below and looking forward to trying it.
Can't update Flash so can't see all videos
2. Widget Board" is a total flop - would prefer a customizable home screen or the widget board as the home screen, but not a deal breaker.
3. has crashed about 1x/week as I've used it.
4. battery power is terrible, but suspect this is consistent with other tablets, as my nook color was just as bad (be sure to use the proper charger or you won't get the charge you need)
5. really glad that you can read/use and charge simultaneously (Nook Color did not)
6. would prefer a leaner tablet for reading, but again, not a deal breaker
7. response time is great.
8. runs all the apps I use except my banking app (USAA)
9. using the armorshield protector from amazon; not sure how I feel about it. looking forward to otterbox creating a shell for it(Posted on 12/30/11)

My husband got me this tablet for Christmas. I did a lot of research comparing the various tablets on the market, including the iPad and I determined the Vizio tablet was the one for me. It is a great tablet and I really like the idea of the expandable memory. That was the clincher for me deciding on the Vizio versus the iPad. I wish the Android Marketplace was a little more robust. However, overall I am delighted with the tablet and would recommend getting one to anybody interested in getting a tablet.

I purchased this tablet for about $150 and I can say it is pretty awesome. Sure its not going to perform like an iPad2, but that's ok. It does all of the basics well. Nook reader, get your emails, Android apps and games, Facebook, Twitter, News. I can say that for me I was pleasantly surprised. Honeycomb would probably make me give this a 9 out of 10 for price and performance.

I picked mine up in BJs 2 weeks ago. They had about 15 of the promo boards that you have to bring to the cashier to get them out of lockup. You gotta act fast because they were gone at least within the day, if not sooner.
I started working with it yesterday and I could not be more pleased with myself for picking this up. There are many out there that just didn't seem quite right; but this one works great, no lockups yet. GPS works good. Gonna download free caddie pro and test this out at the golf course tomorrow. Need to pick up an N router for faster internet.
This is a great one to start out with; that won't break the bank or make you regret spending the money on it!(Posted on 12/26/11)

- Cannot Get It to Work with PdaNet Review by irishfan
-
The main reason I purchased this tablet was to use my HTC EVO 3D's data connection in order to surf the internet when on the go via the PdaNet app installed on both my phone and this tablet. I have been unsuccessful at getting it to work. I have bluetooth on my desktop, and I was able to successful connect to the internet, however, I cannot on this tablet. I have also tried on one that I purchased for my daughter...even though it seems to want to more than on mine...I get a lot of forced closes on mine. I have emailed the app developer for assistance, but I have not heard back. Has anyone been able to successfully use PdaNet on this tablet, and maybe give me some tips? I have tried everything I know.
I will do a full review later on. So far, it seems pretty good for an inexpensive tablet.(Posted on 12/20/11)

Bought this for my daughter, and it is a nice, very functional android tablet. My daughter loves it. It's not a Galaxy Tab, but it's also about 1/3 the price! Great price/performance.
Unfortunately, there's a major design problem with the USB (charge) connector as others have mentioned. After a few weeks of use, the connector gets so loose it can't charge!
We exchanged the first one at Costco and now the replacement is behaving the same way. I'm not sure what I'll do now, return it or do another exchange.
Since we got it so recently at Costco, I haven't tried Vizio's repair service. No matter how good it is, re-installing all the programs is such a pain, we may just abandon the platform and get a Nook Color or Kindle. :(
Maybe I'll root it and use titanium backup....

Wanted this tablet mainly for downloading ebooks from my library which uses Overdrive Media. Books downloaded perfectly, but, the text didn't fit the viewing page. Found this problem mentioned in other reviews, and one reviewer hit the fix and it WORKS!!!
"Install the "Spare Parts" app from the Android Market. After installing the app,
follow the steps below to enable the 'compatibility mode'option.
1. Open the Spare Parts app and uncheck the 'Compatibility Mode' option.
2. Completely turn off and restart your VTAB.
3. Open the Spare Parts app again and place a checkmark in the 'Compatibility Mode' option.
4. Completely turn off and restart your VTAB.
5. Launch the OverDrive app, eBook titles should now display properly.

- Inexpensive, Not Great, But Not Bad At All Review by SLCBP
-
This tab packs a lot of punch for little $$. I picked up a refurbed tablet off of Woot and I've only been playing with it for a few hours. Vizio made a couple of big mistakes with this. 1. is shipping it with the phone version of Android 3.0 GB. 2. is their custom skin is awkward. Though it may work well with Vizio TV's, it's not what most people are used to who carry androids in their pocket. I installed GoLauncher and LauncherPro, and have found LauncherPro to be the more stable of the two. It nicely replaces the awkward Vizio layout though.
The build quality seems nice, and it's snappy enough and the screen is decent enough as well. I did notice the SD card bug, which is unfortunate. Basically it doesn't register the apps as being on the SD card, even if I use a 3rd party app to try and move them. In the settings it says they have been moved, but doesn't show the memory reduction on the SD Card.
Overall, you really can't argue with a good quality tab, in my case with a case for a total of $160. At that price, it's a steal!
Here's to hoping for a standard Honeycomb or ICS interface and getting rid of the Vizio skin.(Posted on 12/18/11)

I bought my tablet from Costco, while I was walking through the store! I was looking at the Nook and the Kindle before and liked them both but it was not totally want I wanted on them so I saw the Vizio tablet and really liked it and decided to buy for the great price of $189.00. It is not an Ipad, but I found you can import your from Itunes using an app called double twist and I am very happy about that also I can watch my netflix download my books etc. Very good for a beginner like me and cannot afford the high price I am very pleased with product and recommend. Hard to figure out how to work at first for some things but when talking with vizio people they helped walk me through steps to achieve. Thank you Vizio for a great tablet, but I wish we could get rid of the double icons

Bought this 2 weeks ago for $189 at Costco. Does everything I expected. Yes, it doesn't have a front facing camera and it's not Android 3.2, battery charging time could be shorter but it is Android 2.3. Almost every app I've downloaded has worked (problem with a few free news apps from one provider). Now it's not an IPAD and it's not a Galaxy Tab 10.1 but remember, IT'S ONLY $189! It's about the same price as a KINDLE FIRE or a KOBO VOX, which, in my opinion, are better e-book readers than tablets. What else can you get with GPS, Bluetooth, Rear Camera, full access to the Android Market, microSD slot, HDMI output, 8" screen, 1024x768 capacitive screen, etc, etc, for under $200. (Heard suggestions that Android 3.2 might be made available in the near future)

I work at a Walmart and as soon as I saw this tablet I had to have it. I finally got one this last Thursday. This tablet is awesome. I live droid and it is simple and fun to use. I have read the reviews and downloaded go launcher ex. It does help a bit with the Apps. I have seen the complaints about the tablet being too heavy after a little while and I don't notice it. My one problem was that the USB/charging dock was very loose. Unfortunately yesterday I went to charge my tablet while at work come to find out it didn't care at all. The connecter on the USB cable was not making a connection. I had to prop the cable to get the charge. The Vizio support staff helped me out quickly and efficiently. Very kind as well. Thank goodness for the warranty as I will be getting a new tablet soon. I still give this tablet a 10. Because I have had no problems besides the port. No lagging anything and I have a downloaded several Apps with the assistance of a 8gb sd card. I haven't tried to move the Apps for yet though. Great investment I think.

The tablet is fine for web surfing, email and netflix. But what has got me concerned is that it won’t run simple apps that run on my smart phone. My smart phone and Vizio tab both run Android 2.3.
VTAB ISSUES!
1) This tablet won’t allow you to update Adobe Flash
2) Battery Life is terrible
3) 8 hours to charge the battery
4) Wont run simple educational apps
I honestly think I’m going to take this back to Sams Club and return it. I got it for $194, and don’t even know if it’s still worth it at that price. To many issues…..

Android 2.3 is a nice piece of software. It runs well on the Vizio Tablet. The typing is easy and fast, even compared to 2.2. It is too bad that the experts at Vizio had to screw it up. What is up with this "widget board?" It should be called the home screen and you should be able to arrange any widget or app icon any way you want on the five pages. Instead, the home screen is full of All App icons, and without any way to arrange the icons in a meaningful way. They took away some other features as well, and light two way screen orientation. For the price, it is hard to find a better tablet, but it could be better.

I would like a faster charger,
and please fix the skype camera that's rotated 90 degrees, it's critical!

- Moving apps to SD card Review by chicobiker
-
I am amazed at how many folks reviewing the Vizio tablet really think they are able to move apps to their SD card. When I first got mine I downloaded an app which allowed me to move nearly all my internal apps to the SD card. Trouble is, I never purchased or installed an SD card. Come to find out, most tablet manufacturers call a certain portion of their internal memory and SD card. If you don't believe me just move a bunch of your apps to the SD card you bought and installed then take your SD card out and put it in your computer. You will be surprised to see that it does not contain any files.
Now having said the above, I love this tablet and it does everything I had hoped and more. A great deal for what I paid for it and I've been recommending it to everyone I see.(Posted on 12/6/11)

I did a bit of research on tablets, and the VTab fit the bill. This tablet is so popular, that I had to use the Walmart app on my phone to find one- the nearest store did not have it in stock- I had to drive to another town that had ONE left.
I like the size- it is perfect for reading, using the construction calc app, and doing research.
I did not like the SRS audio feature- it sounds gimmicky through headphones, which is how I primarily listen. I verified this between my smart phone and the VTab by using a stereo testing app: on the phone, left channel sound stayed on the left side, right channel sound on the right side; on the Vtab, left channel sound leaked into the the right side, and vice-versa- I HATE THAT! Please provide the ability to defeat SRS in a future update, and I will be much happier.
I also don't like the short battery life, but we may have to just live with it til a future tablet comes out.
One other thing- I find it ironic that the Walmart app isn't available in the Vtab Market, even though Walmart is a major retailer for Vizio. Please fix this.
Best of luck. I look forward to what future updates will bring us.(Posted on 12/6/11)
- You CAN load apps onto SD Review by David
-
Just to clarify... I've been reading a lot of posts saying that you can't place or run apps on the SD card... not true. While you have to download apps to the on-board memory, most apps (but not all, and not 100% of every app) can then be moved over to the SD card to free up the built-in memory. Maybe it was so when it first came out, but I've been able to move the apps to the SD card since I got one at Costco two weeks ago.
A longer battery life and faster charge time are only gripes. Really a great unit, especially for the money.
Hopefully someone will write a killer remote control app to take advantage of the unit's built in IR blaster. The built in RC app for it is barely ok... no macros, no customization.(Posted on 12/5/11)

Bought this at Costco ($188.00) last week and have been running head to head tests with Kindle Fire ($199.00). No contest, the VTAB1008 in my opinion is by far the best value in a tablet on the Market. The Kindle Fire is OK, but much too much dependency on Amazon, like the IPAD has on Apple.
I bought the tablet primarily for book reading and am using Overdrive (thanks to tip that jrpjr posted on 11/28) and could not be more pleased. Both day and night reading is great.) and with the $29.00 accessory package offered at Costco it is outstanding for holding the tablet while reading in bed. Each day I am trying new apps and this is much much more than just a reader. The Kindle will go back, but the Vizio stays.
Will have more to say after further testing.

- Impressed! Review by Mike
-
I was very impressed once I got it in my hands. The built-in GPS and compass perform very well. Netflix streams just as good as it does on a Ipad. Adding the sd card allows for all the storage I could possibly need. It allows you to off load your downloaded apps to keep the internal memory available. I also like the 3 speaker setup that always has the left and right speakers positioned to maintain the stereo sound when the device is rotated. There are quirks with some apps, but I feel it's due to the fact a lot of the apps were designed for mobile phones and adapted for the tablet market. That'll improve over time.
This is a good purchase for under $200 and will hold me over until next year when the bottom falls out of the tablet market. By this time next year you'll be able to get a quad processor 10" tablet for less than $300.
Great tablet to experience the new fad...(Posted on 12/1/11)

- I Love This thing Review by ontheside
-
I have been looking around for a nice inexpensive tablet for a few months. Noticed this one in Costco but was told it was not really a good tablet without Honeycomb. About a week ago I stopped and played with the working display and was impressed. Came home and did some research online. Great reviews from people buying one. Finally needed to know . . . will it connect to the “REAL Android Market”? Came home and chatted with a sales rep at the VIZIO website. He confirmed that it has full access to the REAL Android market.
I was in my car and off to Costco buying one ($189.99). I also added a 16 GB card. Since I charged it up I have been running it through its paces ever since. Nothing to complain about! It handles apps well, no freeze ups. Moves smoothly from one app to the next. And runs more than one app at a time with no problem. Syncs with my desktops’ Google/outlook calendar. The screen/picture is fine for me. Not iPad quality, but also not iPad price. Haven’t tried the chat app (ooVoo) yet, but anticipate no problem. It works fine on my desktop. If you want a Quality Tablet for a reasonable price, this is the one.
PS
My one suggestion is to make it a little lighter in weight.

- Awesome Tablet, wish you could run apps from SD card Review by Rykan
-
Bought 2 of these for myself and my partner. The price was awesome at 189.99 each at Costco. Love the compact but amazing performance of the tablet. The only thing is that I wish we could load our apps onto our SD card and run the apps from there. Expanding the memory to 32 GB is good only if you can actually store 32 GB of useful apps/information....Keep up the good work and hope that we get updates on the common issues with this tablet. I know I am telling all my friends that it is the best deal and if they find one, snatch it up.

Install the "Spare Parts" app from the Android Market.
5. Launch the OverDrive app, eBook titles should now display properly.(Posted on 11/28/11)

- What a surprise! Review by FMac
-
I'm a Mac guy, everything I have in terms computers/mobile is apple (iMac, iPod, MacBook, 2x iPhones, PowerBook, Apple TV2). I think iPad is a really great tool but with no support to Flash makes impossible for me to buy one (my international TV provider uses Flash and I wouldn't be able to access it) and iPad is too expensive especially for a device that doesn't support Flash. Maybe in the near future we won't need Flash support but we still do!!! another thing iTunes is HELL!!! I hate it!!!
So I bought this VIZIO tablet for my daughter at Costco ($189) + tax.
This little (but perfect size) tablet blew me away!!!
1) It supports Flash (my International subscription WORKS!!!) wow :) and the image is awesome!!!
2) It runs really smooth and at reasonable speed.
3) You just drag and drop files (photos, movies etc) from your computer straight to the tablet... easy easy easy!!! no iTunes!!!! YEAH!!!! :)
4) HDMI support? wow
5) This thing REALLY works as a remote control now for our 3 TVs (2 Sony + 1 Samsung).
5) And it looks nice.
I am going to get me one soon!!!!
What I think it can be improved:
1) More powerful speakers for better volume control.
2) A more effective way to organize Apps. I think when you categorize an App the App should appear only under the category you created to avoid having so many icons in your home screen.
3) Can be a little lighter.
4) Battery life can be a little better.
Really this tablet is worth every $!!! It is a GREAT PRODUCT!!! I am very impressed!!!(Posted on 11/22/11)

I was quite skeptical about this Android tablet when I picked one up at Costco -- I'd never used Android before, and wasn't sure I even needed a tablet.
What I mostly wanted was a way to show others videos I produce.
And it does that -- rather well in fact. 720p videos plays wonderfully --- and even many 1920x1080 videos play smoothly.
The speakers are much louder than what I've heard on iPads. And this tablet lets me use my Rockfish Bluetooth headsets without issue.
Its the other things the vizio tablet does that have been most unexpected -- its a GREAT remote for just about every TV, DVD, projector, receiver, and gadget I have. It even has a GPS -- though not one I'd want to depend on, since it not nearly as sensitive as I'd like.
I've installed lots of apps from the market -- and all installed fine except for 2 or 3 -- which were deemed incompatible for some unexplained reason.
My biggest reservation about this tablet is the comparitively limited battery life -- and the glacial time it takes to get a full charge.
Otherwise I love this tablet --- MUCH better deal than the Kindle Fire, Nook or iPad.

- Great tab, great features, thanks Vizio Review by M_

I walked into Costco and saw these displayed for $189.99..I first played with it then went home and researched it against some others. I have used both the ipad 1&2, love Apple but the "flash" issue is so 1990's.
I wanted the Kindle Fire, for email, web, video chat then realized the Kindle Fire has no camera.
So, after reading and researching went back and Brought one, also got the accessory kit which is a Folio case(snaps in and stays in), also give you a touch screen pen and Ear Buds..pretty nice buds too.
Great product.
*Here are some tips: Get the Launcher PRO or Launcher EX, this will replace the standard Android launcher, which is cluttered and confusing, switching to Launcher will make it feel more like an iPad or have swinging page features, build pages with what ever apps you want etc,..
Also, get some Apps that you might be used to, I switched the Calendar to one that syncs with my Google calendar, LOAD "OOVOO" App, for video chats.
Skype doesn't work, not sure why. OOVOO works awesome, the other person just has to download and sign in and you are good to go.
Get the Sticky pad app, this was a HUGE plus when I used the iPad, works the same way, just stays contained in the app and you can email your notes.
Get Evernote for meetings, sessions, ideas etc,..
Great for:
Email
Web browsing (has flash)
Music
TV shows (Hulu) there are other apps for this too
Movies (Netflicks)
Would be nice to:
Get the software update to Honeycomb
Get the "picture" app to use the "side button" instead of the "on screen button"
Over all, for the price? Dude, I am buying some more of these for my family to enjoy.

- What you should know about Vizio Tablet Review by steve
-
The Vizio is a great little tablet at a great price. However, you should know:
Minuses
1. While it accepts an external SD chip up to 32 Gigs, that chip can only store and play movies, videos, music, etc. You can't run apps on or from the chip. The Vizio is limited to a 2 Gig partition of its 4 Gigs of internal memory for apps/programs.
Apparently, if you have a lot of apps and big apps, you can run out of space. I haven't had that problem personally.
Two people at Vizio told me that Astro File Manager solves the problem. It doesn't. Vizio is one of two tablets I'm aware of with this unfortunate architecture. The other has 8 Gigs internal.
2. The Vizio tablet Bluetooth will operate with some, but not all, headphones. It does not operate with any keyboards or mice. I don't know about Bluetooth printers, but I suspect not. I didn't try to connect with a Bluetooth earbud, as in a cellphone Bluetooth device, to see if it would work. This a known problem. Vizio tech said it is being addressed.
3. I was unable to find a version of Quickoffice that runs on the Vizio. That said, Google Docs does work.
4. I had to buy a third party app to get the tablet to work with my wifi enabled printer. The app works only with Google Docs, Gmail and PDF files. HP has an ePrint app. I don't have an ePrint HP printer, so I can't say if that works.
5. I was unable to get Overdrive to work properly. Overdrive is an app that allows downloading borrowed books from the public library. The book pages were formatted with 80% of a sentence on one page and 20% on the next,
6. Skype works in audio. In video, the user's image is transmitted and displayed 90% rotated. This is a known problem and the Vizio tech told me they were working on it. Seemed to work fine with ooVoo the one time I used it. But, ooVoo has limitations as a free app.
7. To keep up with what the user community is saying, be sure and check out the Vizio forum at http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/vizio-tablets/
8. I have not had a good experience with Chat tech support. Talking over the phone is better.
9. I have found that this Android tablet stuff is not exactly slick, ready to go out of the box. Maybe the Apple iPad has it down, but you need patience and a bit of a "techie" spirit to make Vizio do all you might hope for.
Pluses
1. It tethers perfectly to my cell phone wifi. My wife and I can both have computing power on the road.
2. The GPS is great. And, it is really nice to have in a lower priced tablet.
3. All of the apps I have downloaded from the included app store function worked fine except Overdrive. Some, like my local TV station app, are formatted only for the cellphone with the Gingerbread operating system, so it displays a narrow column of text. Not a biggie. You can get the Amazon Android Market app, but not everything you download from it is going to work on the Vizio tablet.
4. I like the compact 8-inch screen vs. a bigger 10.4-inch format.
5. It sounds like Vizio is working to make the necessary fixes on Bluetooth and Skype so this will be an even better tablet. Also was told they are working on Honeycomb, but may skip ahead to the Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS. Good in either case.
6. I downloaded LauncherPro which has a nice interface for the Vizio. I paired that with a digital clock widget and the package made a pleasant looking home page. I also downloaded CacheCleaner, which makes it easy to keep the Tablet's performance up to speed.
Hopes:
I hope Vizio will recognize and come to grips with the external SD card issues.(Posted on 11/16/11)

early xmas gift! yay! We picked this up at Costco yesterday... $189 and I love it! This is an excellent product for the price. It runs the first version of Andriod softward (gingerbread) and better than the Zoom for half the price... It's resolution is fine for what one really needs. The apps are endless and I am just happy with this.

I would highly recommend this for the pricepoint!(Posted on 11/14/11)

I bought this from Wal-Mart for $198, and I think it was a good deal. The VTAB feels great in my hand, and I think the 4:3 8" screen is the right size-- the tablet is very portable and usable without feeling large. It's reasonably responsive, and has just enough oomph to do what I need it to. The universal remote is nice, and battery life is decent. I think it also has a wonderful and bright display, although it is a serious fingerprint magnet.
However, I despise the current SD card scheme. This tablet would be so much better if we could actually move apps to an external SD card. Also, I find the lack of macro support on the remote disappointing, and it really hampers the overall utility of the remote. If Vizio wanted, this could be a direct competitor to any other high-end remote; the functionality is just not available right now. Finally, I find it infuriating that I can't root the device. I'd understand Vizio not supporting us if we chose to root the device, but to take away the choice entirely...? To me, Android is about choice, and this tablet takes away a lot of it.
All in all, it's a nice device, but not one I'm sure I'll keep once the holiday return deadline nears.(Posted on 11/14/11)

- I love the tablet, but has some issues Review by Chuckster
-
First off, this is a great tablet for the price, $189.00 at Costco.
I would give this tablet a 4 out of 5 rating if that was applicable.(Posted on 11/13/11)

- Good, But Not Better or Best Review by Lindy
-
Tech usually rates Poor, Good, Better or Best for me. I like tech toys and this is a toy that fell within my toy budget and that I thought would fall into a middle rating somewhere. It does at the lower middle. I love the look and feel of the device. The touchscreen is responsive and the sound is decent. I actually like the layout with the exception of getting rid of some icons/bloatware. Why have the option to move an APP to one of the top menus and then leave it also showing in the main section lost in icon land? I'll be looking for an APP to take care of that. The remote APP is fun but won't connect to my DishNetwork even though it's listed.
I don't know why I keep waiting for one of the companies that are producing tablets to surprise me with being original in the field of competition. I hate the rigidity of the system and the reliance of having to find some APP to correct something or make something work better or to take a chance on someone rooting it. Personalization is big with me and unless Vizio corrects some issues (at the minimum the SD Card problem) or someone roots this device, it will remain in the Good category.
Come on Vizio, be original. There are enough tablets out there for the inexperienced users who have a need for such a rigid system of no choices or customization. At least hide an advanced user function somewhere so that a user can get rid of bloatware, tweak things so that they don't drain the battery, personalize some things (like the visuals, start up manager so don't have to keep killing apps, where we want apps to save - what a waste to have a 32GB SDCard and not be able to utilize it better).(Posted on 11/11/11)

I bought 2 of the Vizio tablets from Sam's Club for $195 each. Wonderful tablet. My wife and I use them every evening. Quite a lot better build than the 2 $150ish tablets we replaced with the Vizio. My only complaint is the issue with 'moving' apps to the SD card. I can see that we will be pressed for space soon on the internal storage. It would be great to move some of these game apps to the external SD. Hope Vizio can address this in a software update. If I must uninstall some 'junk' to make room for new apps, I will because everything else with this tablet is fantastic. This is a great tablet!

- Vizio Tablet is so so Review by Brian
-
The screen is nice but the software is clunky. The universal remote software provides no better functionality that a $5 universal remote than you would get at a dollar store. Not very well thought and useless to me since it doesn't control my 3 name brand devices.
The OS on this is totally locked down, cant root it cant even update google maps for crying out loud. They have prevented the owner from making even the simplest of changes to the tablet.
Major SDCARD problem. You can expand memory by adding an external sdcard...but you cannot load apps to it at all leaving you with the measly 2GB of internal memory for apps. One of the dubmbest things I have ever seena company do with a device like this.
Did I mention you can't root it?
For a $200 tablet its ok. But has the potential to be so much better.(Posted on 11/8/11)

The product is not perfect but my wife and I both have one and love it. ONE BIG problem I had with it was Google images were all horrible and virtually incapable of viewing. I was VERY HAPPY to learn that installing "opera" as a stock replacement fixed the problem. I almost returned it until that fix because we use Google images all the time.
Also Launcher pro fixes the lack of better word dumb desktop. If you copied a icon to the above favorites tab it would show up twice right next to each other. launcher pro also provides multiple desktops.
My wife thought the IR remote was "silly' until she figured out it will do everything including change our inputs which our cable company one will for some reason will NOT do. And it is great for when you are in the dark. Price out a light up remote sometime!
For the performance you get for less than $200 now you cannot beat it; period. if you TRULY need more then upgrade, but if you want a great well rounded tablet you will be happy with this tablet for sure!(Posted on 11/7/11)

- nice tablet with one MAJOR flaw Review by 2remote@comcast.net
-
The VTAB has 4 GB of internal memory. This is partitioned so that the system uses part of it and the other area is "user space". This user space area is about 2.4 GB and is mounted in the file system at /sdcard. This mount point is important. Because the space on the internal memory is mounted at /sdcard.
When you move an app to SD you are moving it from one part of the built in internal memory to the part of internal memory that is mounted at /sdcard. The app never goes to the user installed external SD Card.
Apps that default to using the /sdcard folder of the file system, if present, put their data on the internal memory mounted at /sdcard. This means that data intensive apps such as nav apps can quickly fill up the user space allotted (2.4 GB).
The user installed external SD Card is mounted in the file system at /sdcard/external.
It can be used for data by apps that have a user setting to specify the data storage point.
It can be used for pictures, music, and documents. The system will find these items on the user installed sdcard.
One other area of confusion is that the VTAB is the only (or one of the few) Android devices to use this memory model. It is not. Other devices do this also. The other Android devices that do this have more internal storage than the VTAB, so the issue is not as critical.
Another misconception is that it is an Android standard for the user installed SD Card to be mounted at /sdcard. I did some research and could not find any such standard. It may have become a practice, but it is not a standard. This does not change the fact that the way that the VTAB uses memory limits it's usefulness.
Vizio can address this in many ways.
Users could be given a option on first operation of the device or upon a reset to change the mount points. An example would be for the internal space to mounted at /data and the external card at /sdcard
Users could be given an option to create a symlink to the external card so that it also shows up at /sdcard with no change in how the internal space is mounted.
An optional update could be rolled out that simple changes the file that has the mount points in it and resets the device. This could be used by those who want to make better use of the external SD Card they have installed.
These are system level changes that could be implemented in an update.
The only advantage to the current memory setup that I see is that it is new user proof. The built in Android functions work without any user discernible errors. For many users they will never notice the issue. I can see inexperienced users faces when a prompt comes up asking how they want to use the memory on the device on first use. It would need a well designed UI for the user to follow when setting up the device.
The bid drawback to how the memory is used is that the VTAB will never reach it's full potential.
Some designer dropped the ball. You can get away with a small amount of internal memory IF you make smart use of external memory. The bottom line is that even with the limited internal memory this is a very nice device, but it would be a GREAT device if users could make better use of the external SD Card.
Maybe people who care about these details aren't the Vizio target market. But all of the geeks I know love their big screen TVs and if the VTAB is their first Vizio product it might not leave a good impression.(Posted on 11/5/11)

AS Usual, there are plenty of people that complain that this cheap tablet lacks this or that. I know android enough to know that there isn't much you can't make a device do if you simply search the app store.
First of all, Skype works perfectly fine on this tablet. I don't understand how anyone is having issues here.
Second, you can move Apps to your sd card. Just download Astro or some other file manager that has that function.
Third, cover up that weird vizio interface by downloading Launcher Pro. This will provide a very familiar feel without any noticeable added lag. Also very customizable and easy to learn.
Fourth, use the app store to download Opera for a better web browsing experience and head over to the official android amp market website. The market app seems to block certain Apps whereas the website has everything. Just log in using your family account.
I love this tablet. The weight is fine, the battery is reasonable and the screen looks perfect. I also installed an office suite, Docs to Go I think, which cost $15. Now I can edit and create office docs on it too.
So in summary, download a file browser that can move Apps to the effect card, and replace the launcher, get a good browser, and use your app store.(Posted on 11/2/11)

- Great device for the money! Review by Tim
-
I have been researching tablets for a couple of months and was about to purchase an Acer Iconia TAB500 when I stumbled on this at Costco the other day. For $189.00 I couldn't resist and bought it. I have to say this is an amazing product for the price! As soon as I got home and powered it on it began a firmware update which was quick and painless. I immediately tried out the Netflix app which is a "must funchtion" deal breaker for me and it worked flawlessly. The speakers have good sound quality but I opt for using my Bluetooth stereo headphones which paired up with no problem and make the movie watching experience much better.
The GUI, although somewhat custom, is very familiar. I will say that it can be a bit sluggish at times compared to other tablets I've tested which is a bit surprising given the fact there is a 1 Ghz processor under the hood.
I was also very intrigued by the remote control function. It works well but I'm surprised that they haven't developed a macro function to power up multiple devices at once. There is a lot of potential for improvement here....lets hope they keep adding to the functionality.
Accessing notifications is also a bit strange. Instead of having the typical android pull down window shade to quickly see all of your notifications you have to touch the asterisk at the top fo the page to view notifications then decide if you want to access them....this seems a bit "hacky" IMO. The original android access is much better.
I also noticed that the ambient light sensor/autobrightness control is hypersensitive. When "auto brightness" is used the unit is constantly adjusting the back light brightness up and down. This happened when the room was somewhat dark. I found this a bit annoying and had to set the brightness manually.
Pro's:
Great build quality/very nice feel in the hand
Great value for the money.
External storage up to 32gb Micro SD
Standard MicroUSB interface/charging port.
Rotating speakers are slick
IR blaster/Remote Control is a cool feature.
Very fast page loads over wireless N
Good battery life
Cons:
Somewhat sluggish OS.
A tad on the heavy side.
Screen viewing angle isn't as good as others on the market
Ambient light sensor/autobrightness is flaky
Overall:
I'm quite happy with the Vizio and would definitely recommend it to anyone. The price is great. It's a fun product...buy one!

- Disappointed that you cannot move Apps to SD Card Review by Zek

I am happy with the Tablet until I found out that you are unable to move Appplications to the SD Card. It is moved into the internal storage which is only 2gb. This limits the number of applications that can be downloaded.
Very disappointing...I expect Vizio to come up with a fix for this bug.(Posted on 10/31/11)

Got a great deal on this tab! I had researched hundreds of pads and this is a rare product. The processor doesn't lag on anything I run. The camera is OK (guess it is possibly just to be used as a webcam). The mic is pretty good. I did not like the launcher it came with. Replaced it with Launcher EX. MUCH Better. Some Apps are missing in the market. So I just access the market directly on the web. Contrast is great. Sd card is a must. But once storage, the censored market, and and the pretty but too simple stock gui have been handled, this is a great tablet. Love that it has flash and gps, and both of which my wife's ipad cannot do at more than twice the cost.

Purchased this at Sam's on 10/20 and have been having fun experimenting with my first tablet. It was a good buy @ $235, but I checked the Sam's website on 10/28 and discovered they had dropped the price to $195. Stopped at the club today and got the $40 back (then turned around and spent it on the protective cover bundle).
I loaded a number of programs from the apps market, most seem to work great. After I did some reading online, I decided to try loading LauncherPro to replace the Vizio user interface. So far, I like the change, makes the tablet more configurable. I also installed Dolphin browser to replace the default browser and I like it as well.
Being new to the tablet world, I was kind of surprised that the Android OS (a Google product) doesn't have Chrome (another Google product) as the default browser.
Battery life could be better, I have not been able to get anything approaching 10 hours of battery life from it. Music player plays WMA files, but doesn't read the artist information from the files (???) seems kind of odd.(Posted on 10/30/11)

We bought this tablet for our daughter because it supports flash, the ipad does not. She likes to play the games on facebook. This does play the games on facebook, It runs flash nicely. It runs Netflix, and all the games from the Android Market. Very easy to setup and to use. I am very pleased. All this, for half the price of the iPad. We have 3 Vizio TV's in our family, So this was another factor in Purchasing Vizio. I am VERY brand loyal, if it works well, I will come back.

I was looking for an eBook reader for my wife. This unit at Sam's Club is $234. I got a full function tablet for what one would normally pay for a ebook reader. WOW. I am totally blown away by the Android OS. It is full of function and the apps on the Market Place are unbelievably plentiful. Most are FREE or very reasonably priced. The ebook reader Nook was already installed and it works great. The best part is my wife LOVES IT. Enough said.
If you are looking for a full function tablet this is the one. You won't be sorry.(Posted on 10/28/11)
- It Is Not An iPAD ... Review by dominicd
-
Yes. It is not an iPAD, it's a 'brick,' however for the money/price it was IMO a great purchase. For the last two months, or so, since purchasing the VTAB1008 this lower version of Android OS has performed nearly flawlessly, and with the OTA applications installed over this time nothing catastrophic has happened - there were a few instances of latency and one or two app locks/freezes however, and overall the device has to this point operated quite well. I even had my children and other not familiar with tables play with it and they too were impressed. The battery-life has much left to be desired, including the weight, however with all else considered this device can serve a purpose in personal mobile computing, if one is content with just Wi-Fi (the video and sound quality came as a pleasant surprise, if not shock altogether) and document viewing, or even electronic book reading. Initially, my expectations were low when I purchased this however on a scale of 1 to 10 (and with it kid-tested, and parent-approved) I give it a 9.1 score, and where, in a couple of weeks shall relinquish it to one of my children to keep ... I love it!

Pros
I just bought mine yesterday at Cotsco. for $189.99 great price for a pad that allows you to use netflix ,hulu, read books etc. you can do so much on it. I found it easy to set up. Easy to update pad.
Better than those 300 or 400 dollar pads. It is even better than the nook.
Cons
You do need to get an SD card internal memory to small.
Battery life is 7 hours, but I only use this pad for home use. I use it between 4 to 5 hours per day. to read a books at night or catch up on a show I missed on hulu or watch a movie.
Great Home Pad for the price.

I have a 55 inch VIZIO TV and I am very satisfied with the product and aps. I was think about getting a tablet but did not want to pay $500 for one. I waited and VIZIO came out with their tablet for about $349.00. I waited hoping the price would come down around XMAS. Then Wal-mart had an online ad for $248.00 but they did not have any. Amazon now lets you pay for items with credit card points. That was it for me, paid $289.00 with free shipping with my points. I am very impressed and for me it just gets better every day as I learn how to use more functions and discover more aps. Video is clear and speakers are fine. I find it faster that my desktop for some functions, like getting email. It responds quickly; I find the keyboard tricky at times with my big fingers. I am not into the technical aspects that some of the high tech groupies are. If I hit a key or button and it responds like I expect it too that is fine with me.
Screen smuges a lot. Key board somtimes frustrating. But still a bargin and compared to others in the market.(Posted on 10/27/11)

- IT DOES SUPPORT SKYPE!! Nice Tablet! Review by cordon_rouge
-
I was hesitant to buy this tablet after seeing reviews saying it does not support this or that android app, but decided to try it anyway. Well, I just used it with SKYPE with excellent results, even video conferenced...., the mail app works with MS Exchange just fine, and I was able to play YouTube and hulu videos just fine (which was surprising for a single core processor/512mb). The camera is not great, but adequate. The picture quality is beautiful, and yes, it might be heavier than other pads, but nothing is perfect. The only noticeable performance hit is how long it takes to detect that you moved the pad landscape vs. portrait (but then my experience is with an ipad from work).
I am very pleased with this unit, and being a Vizio does give me peace of mind given that I did not spend twice as much on an Apple or Samsung tablet.(Posted on 10/21/11)

-
I got this and was blown away. Great picture, great touch screen (responsive like an iPad) - the problem I found with it was simple -> I called Customer Support and asked if it supported Skype. I thought maybe I did something wrong when I downloaded it...no, I did everything correctly. Skype VOICE works - but no video. Vizio pushed the reason it didn't work with Skype had something to do with The Android Marketplace... please! Why put a forward facing camera on it if it doesn't work with Skype? 650,000,000 users on Skype can't be wrong. I'll buy 100 of these bad boys, when they get Skype Video working.

The area that I have a problem with is syn with my P.C . I use Yahoo for email and would like to know how do I sync my Yahoo email address book over to the Tablet and my Yahoo contacts . With that function I would be very satisfied with the price and the Tablet. Also the GPS function is greet but when you turn off the Tablet you loss the connection, so it seems of no great value when you need it , that being driving(Posted on 10/21/11)

I think its a great tablet...for the price. Even for the price I paid, I got more than expected. Not wanting to dish out over 500 for a tablet, and spending way under that, I am very pleased with the product. I wish the home screen that displays all your apps can be a little more personalized. such as changing the background (not wallpaper of lock screen) with something more personal than the factory default background. Other than that little minor con, I love it. I look forward to more updates to the vizio tablet software.

Love:
Reading books using Kindle, Nook, Overdrive
Watching movies converted from DVD
Doing puzzles/playing games
Listening to music
Reading and sending e-mail
Not paying a per-month fee for 3/4G - Wifi only is great for me
Streaming Netflix
Using downloaded scriptures
Navigation, voice entry of address, voice prompts on navigation
Airplane mode
Would like:
To be able to personalize more than the lock screen, use live wallpapers
Multiple home screens so I can organize widgets according to function/category
Swype keyboard - won't install - says the device doesn't support it, but other similar keyboards (not as good) work
To update Flash - only upgrades to 10.1 (This one is a biggie and may be a deal breaker - undecided as yet, hoping for another OTA update to allow this before my 90 day return period expires)
Video to fill the screen - resolution doesn't allow this
Faster speed when turning book pages - there is quite a delay. Don't know if this is the apps or the tablet, however.
Dual core processor (want not need)
Storage:
4 GB is fine, as the tablet supports up to a 32 GB Micro SD card

This is a Great tablet for the money. I've had some junk ones and kicked the tires on some fairly expensive ones in the stores before I ran across this one at walmart.com.
Not many of the sub $300 tabs have flash support and that's one of the reasons I chose this tab; The other reason the size just right not to big not to small. Everything like the internet, games and android market run pretty fast thanks to the 1ghz. cpu and 512mb of ram. Although it is kinda heavy after you hold it for awhile but not too bad. As others have mentioned when you have it tilted at certain angles you have a glare but I thing an anti glare screen protector should take care of that problem. Overall you just can't beat this thing with a wooden stick for $248 I going to recommend it to some friends. NICE JOB VIZIO!!!!(Posted on 10/16/11)

Initially, I was going to buy a sound system for my car.
My car is an '87 model so the conversion was going to cost me a ton.
Instead, I wondered my way to the electronics section of my nearest Walmart.
About twenty minutes later,
I fell in love with the VTAB1008 on display.
I fought with myself over the price, $262 was cheap in my mind as it had said the normal price was well over $300.
I decided to call my best friend, and after a short discussion, it was settled.
I brought it home but a few hours ago.
I thought at first that having a 'larger android' was sort of stupid, and contimplated bringing it back in the morning.
Since then, as my Desire shoots off hotspot, I've decided I can live with the simplicity, as this little tablet is my new little love. I was on Google + Webcam chat for about an hour, and I'm back to drawing on sketchbook pro.
Thought I should post this now, as people below me were having trouble with getting on skype and vid chats. I'd like to state that whatever that was, has been fixed, as I was on tonight. C:
Very glad I bought this little baby.
She was well worth the cash.(Posted on 10/14/11)

Good tablet especially for the price. One area that needs improving is the built-in bluetooth capability. It will not sync with any currently available keyboard. That's a real set-back. I purchased a compact Android O/S bluetooth keyboard and tried for about an hour to troubleshoot the failed sync error only to learn from the Vizio web site that keyboards will not sync with the Vizio Tablet. Hope I can return the keyboard. If you cannot sync a bluetooth keyboard to it, then I wonder what the bluetooth capability is for. One last thing, the package does not include a mini-HDMI cable (a $10 item). Good product for the price, but the lack of accessories is a real disappointment.

I paid $235 at Costco (Boca Raton) three days ago, and while not quite the smoothness of an iPad, the money saved makes up the difference. The accessory kit ($35) with its stand/carrying case, pointer-stick, and ear-buds compliment this item. I am disappointed with a couple of items, mainly weakness to pick up my Cisco N-router within my home (will try positioning router to a different location. E-mail, can't seem to initiate a "GET E-mail", function. Skype works just fine. Chess app keeps beating me. Keep looking for the X-Box to terminate applications. Lack of documentation could be troublesome to newbies. Took a chat call to determine only two display positions and how to transition. Once determined, no problem.
All in all an interesting item (don't want to refer to it as a toy for adults, not quite yet), But for a guy with over 50 years in computers, I have tried just about everything so this tablet becomes an interesting challenge to master. One Android issue, finding an iPad "Star Walk" app that is an equal.(Posted on 10/10/11)

Thanks for a great product. so much good as has been stated... I disappointed in the weight which I assume is the battery. After using a Galaxy S Vibrant phone with a 4" screen this 8" screen seems awesome. I have installed and used Android Skype app!! Thanks for the camera up front and yes do not miss the rear camera. Amazon missed that one feature for sure on K-Fire. Use my Vibrant for pics..which I transfer using Picasa.
No 3/4G is ok -- my Vibrant functions as a hot-spot so I have wireless ALWAYS when I have cell service.
Fast processor and programs run and load just fine. Have not had experience with SD memory yet so thanks Marvin for info on limitations --hope Vizio addresses that issue also.
Sound excellent, upgrading my router to n and hope to see better video performance. Some You Tube and network full episodes don't load -- wonder why when shorter excerpts play fine. So far battery life seems decent. Installs most android apps. Glitch I've encountered is when doing app searches it limits number of app displayed so if market app search found 300 it only scrolls about 25-30 of them -- weird and frustrating?!?! Only wish is that it had a Bluetooth key board.

The tablet itself, the accessories, the android os, the battery life, the sheer usability I get out of it everyday along with video calling is phenomenal! I am an Evangelist, and this is an excellent tool for ministry...bible app, writing notes, dictionary, so on. I get a kick out of the universal remote app, so easy to work all the technology around here. I have tried Samsung Galaxy Tab and iPad 1 & 2, don't get me wrong, they are great in their own ways. Hopefully there will be a Netflix app soon. Costco offers a good price for both the tablet and its accessories.

I looked at all of the tablets out on the market. I paid $285.00 at Costco for this great little tablet. It does everything that I want and more. No more lugging around my heavy laptop. It came with earphones and a styles pen “Wow” what a great product for the price and the quality for both the tablet and case is outstanding. If you are looking for a tablet that will run music, movies and games along with checking your email and EBay purchases and you do not want to spend a small fortune, then this is the machine for you! I bought this tablet about a month ago and I am very impressed. The price made me buy it, but the features keep it with me. It's a perfect size, not too small, not too big. Big news today (9/13/11) is that the Facebook app now installs from the Market and Vizio has made oovoo (video chat app) available for the tablet (in the market as well). It looks like Vizio is dedicated to improving this device, and I am glad that I bought it. If you don't like the stock launcher, both GoLauncher EX and Launcher Pro work great on the tablet.

For the price this tablet works great. This is my first tablet and I was not sure what I would do with it but, I got to tell you it has 101 uses. Like my phone I can download many productivity apps to sync with my p.c. and my phone. Unlike my phone the large view screen is wonderful. The picture quality for watching HD video is super. Performance seem to be exceptional as well. I do not notice any lag when using multiple apps. Battery life is good. Remote could use a lot more features. If I was looking for a universal remote I would go elsewhere. It works to turn on the TV but not much else. All in all for video watching, web browsing, email and productivity I would give it an "A". go get one!

I am impressed with this product, I have downloaded a few things from the market and am having fun with it. I initially bought it for school, to help me study. I, unlike most americans am not as "techno" as I would like to be. I went to the web-site to get additional information, and was puzzled to find the quick start guide that was already in the package. My questions are more difficult than that guide and I would like to see step-by-step instructions or video clips to connect to the computer and download music and stuff. Also, the tablet shown has a widget for facebook installed, and mine does not have it. Clueless...

I am using this Tablet for last 3 weeks now. I have almost stopped using my laptop for most of the stuff. I am using it for things from email to chat and social websites to youtube full length movies. Some of them HD quality too. Its works really great for almost all the things. I love its IR remote and speaker sound quality.
Like any other system ( computer or anything) this one has its on limitations and I would like to share that too.
For some reason android market does not allow to install facebook, however when I tried finding a apk and installing that is working with no issue. Battery is never more than 4.5 hours and after that we have to charge it.. and charging takes more then 5 hours.
If multiple applications are running ti shows out of memory so we have to have some application to kill tasks( no in built application for the purpose).
At this time Netflix is not working on it, however Hulu works on this as if its meant for that only.

Vizio has created a fantastic tablet at an affordable price with seemingly unrivaled support for a variety of functions based on the wildly popular Android OS with full Market Place accessibility. It was an easy choice when searching through the available 7" tablet options. This 8" tablet is just the right size and is more than capable of keeping up with many of the more expensive 10" tablets. The universal remote function is certainly an added bonus but it's missing macros to turn everything in a room on/off. The only real complaint...and it's a big one... is the lack of support for Netflix and Skype. It really is the only thing that is keeping this tablet from becoming a 5-star tablet-of-the-year home run. But don't go running away just yet! The folks at Vizio wrote to tell me that they are designing an App for video chat, as well as (and I quote) "the firmware for Netflix, once it becomes available we will be sending in out to the tablets in the form of an update". No release dates yet, but it's good to know that it's in the works!

- the good and the bad Review by schmjdt

Been using my tablet for a bout a month now. There are a lot of real nice things and a couple things that are missing that make you scratch your head. Love the built in IR, but can't for the life of me figure out why you would want a device that can control hundreds of devices in multiple rooms but not be able to set up macros for any of those rooms. Really wish i could turn on living room all at once.
The camera hopefully will find some uses in the future, but a front facing camera with no video chat isn't a camera, it's a mirror, and not a great mirror, better off using the beautiful glossy screen for that.
the dual stereo speaker setup is a great feature, as is the access to the android market, just wish more apps were available, namely google voice, would love to be able to text from this device, and skype would make it top of the line.
Battery life doesn't seem to be quite what i had hoped, but still very respectable, and more than adequate if you turn off the wifi and just use it as a remote.
All in all, for $300 it is a pretty good internet browser/newspaper/remote/angry bird during commercials device(Posted on 8/30/11)

The VTAB1008 is a solid entry into the Android tablet wars. The display and sound are considerably better than what I thought I would get for the price. The fact that the back, home and menu buttons 'relocate' when you change orientation is a very good UI enhancement and prevents accidentally pressing them when holding the tablet by the sides in landscape mode. It is a solid performer but will never impress you with blazing speed.
The V.I.A. Plus interface will either be loved or hated. It basically makes the app drawer your homescreen. Of course if you don't like V.I.A. Plus there are some very good alternatives in the Android market, some of them free. When using a home app replacement such as LauncherPro the notification bar behavior does not conform to Android standards. To open it you have to tap the asterisk in the tray area and close it with the back arrow. Ongoing notification icons do not display in the notification area, you can only see them when you open the notification area.
The biggest issue I have is way that a user inserted SD Card is handled. Instead of being mounted at /sdcard it is mounted at /sdcard/external which prevents it from being used properly by some apps. Apps that do not allow you to specify where you want data and files stored read from default to using the 2GB of internal space that the system mounts at /sdcard. If you want to use a map program that stores maps locally you could use the entire space mouted at /sdcard. Navigon MobileNavigator USA uses 1.7 gb for map storage.Apps that look for an external SD Card use the /sdcard mount point as the default location.
I am hoping that an update will address these issues, but even taking these considerations into account I would say that the VTAB1008 is a keeper. We intend to use it as an e-reader, quick internet browsing tool and to entertain the grandkids.

- No skype or video chat Review by diverboss

When I purchased the tab from Costco, the salesman was quite knowledgable about the tab, except for the fact there is no vid chat, which he did tell me was available.
In todays society, vid chat is great to be able to keep in touch with family while on the road, or in distant locations. I hope this is an app that will be available SOON. Other than that, love the tab, easy to use and great for on the road.
Thank you Vizio(Posted on 8/25/11)

Love this product! So excited about it. ANXIOUS to get the case for it. Bought it at Sam's Club, but the case is not available yet. :(
My only complaint so far is that I can't figure out how to video chat - can't seem to figure out skype or other option....feeling kinda dumb! Anxious to play more! So new!(Posted on 8/17/11)

I have had this product for 2 days now. I am very pleased with all functions thus far. The price was great given the competition. I am looking forward to some of the update fixes that will allow for viewing Netflix.

- Nice Unit Review by EdOR

This unit is really great value for your money. There is very little that one could criticize, especially for the price. I actually think that I could end up using this more than my iPad.
One area for improvement, though, is with apps. Neither Skype nor Netflix work very well, or at all. These are probably my most used apps, so would be nice to get this sorted out ASAP...please!!(Posted on 8/15/11)

- Great product so far. Some suggestions though... Review by dlucero7

I am so far pleased with the item. Great build quality. Very responsive and nice UI. The applications seem to scale well and the audio quality is definitely acceptable, especially with the stereo speaker configuration.
The remote application so far has been a bit disappointing though. It was not able to find a match to my Hitachi (recognizable brand) 50" plasma TV. I know that the PS3 is Bluetooth controlled but it would be great if the remote application could be added so that I can get a USB/IR adapter added to the PS3.
I was hoping that it would have a one-touch operation to commonly executed tasks such as "Watch Satellite TV" or "Watch DVD" and the app would perform a macro operation in the background using the correct commands to the correct components at the correct times. I also would like to see more custom setup of button commands, i.e I would like to have the unit control the DirecTV box while the volume controls on the same page are mapped independently to the Sony AV Receiver unit. I'm assuming all of this could be added with a future upgrade, so here is to hoping.(Posted on 7/26/11)

VIZIO Tablet gets detailed, we go hands-on
June 21, 2011
Way back in January at CES, we managed to sneak in a little bit of hands-on time with the Vizio tablet, the TV manufacturer's straightforwardly-named foray into the ever-popular space. The tablet runs Gingerbread at present, though Vizio has said that it's willing to make the leap over to the tablet-optimized Honeycomb, as soon as that operating system is deemed sufficiently stable by the company...Read More
Walmart leak pegs VIZIO 8-inch tablet launch 6-weeks out
June 20, 2011
Earlier this week, we saw the Vizio tablet in video when NBA star Blake Griffin was hooked up by the Vizio man with a new home theater and a tablet to control the system. I like how the tablet can integrate with the Vizio home theater and work like a universal remote control. I also really liked the cool stereo speaker setup that Vizio used so you get stereo sound in portrait and landscape modes...Read More
